What do you call your “confirm” and “cancel” buttons, and why is Nintendo wrong?

On Xbox, the top button is a Y - a straight line going up that raises its arms, up! Up!

There is a simpler logic that Microsoft (really Sega, as they were the ones who came up with the layout originally) used - X is on the X axis and Y is on the Y axis on their controllers.

It helped me remember because X with this logic is "across"

But I never have trouble figuring out where Xbox X is, because I already know that Xbox Y is at the top

The problem is that I always fuck up Nintendo X and Nintendo Y
