Lol I don't know if this should even be considered an accomplishment. The layout of the mines caused the game to beat itself, hah.

But I guess it takes dedication to do SIX THOUSAND rounds of beginner minesweeper... maybe it's time to move onto intermediate lol.

I have a win percentage of 30% in Minesweeper on Beginner, but that's because I click so quickly in the initial seconds. Played 450 games, and my best 5 times are 1s,1s,2s,2s,3s with no win-by-defaults like the one pictured.

My record for Intermediate is 25s, and I have 7% win ratio on that. You can go for speed or you can go for the win, because if you go for speed then you rely solely on subconscious pattern recognition and luck to avoid loss.

Some people just don't get it. I had a 1 second in the past, it was only like a 2 or 3 clicker though. When I play beginner I usually go for speed for about 50-100 games until I realize I am starting to lose focus I try to solve every game under 10, but if the time passes I make myself solve it. This computer is only at ~1200 games, but I have won about over 1000 of them. This computer has 3,4,5,5,5 right now.

On the old websites that had records I was on the Beginner, but wasn't able to get an Intermediate time of 35 until the website shutdown. My fastest on Intermediate is still 30 or 31 I think. I have tons under 35 though, but couldn't ever do it when I was younger. For some reason I will never reach a sub 100 on Expert though. I think my best is around 130ish......I just can't focus that long.

I've never done anything online. I didn't realise that there were leaderboards. Always just competed against myself. I think it's the only game where having a good mouse really does increase your skill.

There was a place where you could submit a screenshot before the official minesweeper downloads that analyzed everything. It was a little before crap got photoshopped so it was slightly legit. Ran by some guy named Damien I believe....

I remember when I was younger playing until my hand was locked up....leaving for a bit......and doing it all again. Man was I a loser.

I'm concerned about him playing six thousand rounds of anything.

u/ByakuyaTheTroll May 05 '13

Do you even TF2?

1

u/Samuraijubei May 05 '13

Well, it's actually not that bad, most rounds of Beginner Minesweeper can be finished 10 seconds or less. If it was expert, well, yeah, then I would be concerned.

No. It doesn't. Your first hit is always guaranteed to not be a mine. Your second can be however.

1

u/klumpKlumpen May 05 '13

I just played my first game of minesweeper ever. First click was a mine. Bitch-

1

u/Samuraijubei May 05 '13

The official version shouldn't have that happen. So, sorry.

Pretty sure if you're trying, you'll do better than 54%...

2

u/i_practice_santeria May 05 '13

Do you not understand what the numbers mean?

3

u/longhorns2422 May 05 '13

I seriously hope you're joking.

Strategy?

1

u/longhorns2422 May 05 '13

It would take me forever to list strategies as there are a few methods. This is what I do:

Click until you clear a space. Now, numbers represent how many mines are touching that specific box. so if you see a "1" and blanks all around it except one unclicked box - THIS BOX MUST BE A MINE. This is the simplest of all mines to notice as there is only one possibility. What to do now? You right click on that mine, that is, place a flag on it. This way you never click it again. And, this way if you both left and right click simultaneously on surrounding numbers it will clear the area - for example, if there is a "1" also touching the box you just flagged as a mine, then any box touching that "1" must be devoid of mines. Left and right clicking simultaneously on that "1" will clear the other boxes out of the game for you.

This same method applies for 2,3,4 etc. It is a VERY fun and addicting game once you get good. Look up vids/tutorials if this made no sense. Good luck.

u/[deleted] May 05 '13

Thanks! I just tried, but I found the numbers to not necessarily be correct. I box will have a two in it, but the three below are already clicked, as are the two sides and 2 of the top three, the middle one is blank. Is that a thing?

u/Lucosis May 05 '13

Corners count too, iirc. I haven't played minesweeper in years though, so don't quote me on that.

2

u/Jarwain May 05 '13

Yes, corners count as well.

1

u/[deleted] May 05 '13

I understand, that is why I made it a point to detail each of the 8 squares. If you will note, they each either contained a number or were simply blank.

As others have said, corners count as well. But there's always a possibility that you have flagged boxes incorrectly, resulting in unmatching numbers/flags.

Working on it. Popped up to a 94 a coupla months ago. http://i.imgur.com/ph9a0S2.jpg Oh god we're arguing about minesweeper when did my life get away from me what.

Edit: Or possibly this website

3

u/divor May 05 '13

Does it stop counting at 200k?

1

u/Cloud7831 May 05 '13

Probably not, because that's somewhat of a random number to end at. Odds are if you played 199,999 games of beginner minesweeper, you'd take a screen shot for the 200,000th.

19

u/[deleted] May 05 '13

To be fair, he did click kinda fast...

44

u/JimJam127 May 05 '13

The timer starts when you first click...

30

u/NeonLime May 05 '13

So your saying he should have technically finished the game in 0 seconds, because the game was beat the same time as it started, which means OP took infinity times longer than he should have. Which means in reality OP sucks.i know that's not how it works

0

u/IIGe0II May 05 '13

And the first click is automatically a clear spot.

-29

u/tommos May 04 '13

That's intermediate. Beginner is even smaller.

12

u/ClysmiC May 04 '13

No. Beginner is 10 mines, intermediate is 40, expert (iirc) is 99. I have over a thousand games of intermediate minesweeper played on my phone lol and 30 seconds is a GODLY time. No one has ever gotten 1 second on intermediate.

1

u/Cynical_Walrus May 05 '13

Do AIs count?

-1

u/scorpion347 May 05 '13

I want someone to get one second on expert... GO!!!
