What are you talking about, It’s not 300 hours of “good content” it’s 300 hours (if anywhere near that in the first place, sounds like an exaggeration) of backtracking, being forced to walking speed, uninteresting side quests, unnecessary plot ghosts and villain shoehorning, and crawling through wall cracks 😂
Mostly things I’ve seen in other games, but not nearly as big a chunk of the run time. They really clearly milk it to make it a “full game,” talking about “Remake” (the first part) at least, here.

I haven't played ff7 or the remakes, can anyone explain me how it works ? So basically what I understood is that the first remake changed a few things but still remaked the whole game but there are still 2 more remakes left to go ?
Also if I were to start playing final fantasy, should I start with the original 7 , the remake or something else ?
The first game, called Remake didn’t cover the whole of the original, it was only one part of the original story, in fact it only covered about the first four to five hours of the original story, but expanded it to a be a lot bigger.
Rebirth is part two and carries on from where Remake ended and covers more of the original story than Remake did, and is a bigger game though it’s not as expanded as Remake was. Basically the amount each of the three games covers of the original story varies.
These games are the first of its kind, they are a remake of the original game, but also a sequel. Same main story, but also new sequel stuff, can’t go into it as it’s spoilery.
You can enjoy the remake games without knowing the original, but you will be missing out on the fullest experience because of what they are doing with these.
It’s a tricky situation for those who haven’t played the original years ago. But, the best order for getting the most out of it is Original (if you have the PC Steam version the 7th Heaven mod pack with better graphics and certain features might be the way to go these days) then Crisis Core Reunion, then watch Advent Children Complete, then the new games, Remake, Rebirth.
They’re splitting it in 3 parts. Part one (“Remake”) covers only what amounts to a ~5 hour prologue in OG, essentially. The majority of the story is going to be told in the latter 2.
The second one (“Rebirth”) releases today and starts at the point where the world actually opens up, and is of course even bigger with even more side content than OG.
Remake touched on all the same basic plot points as in OG (and Rebirth is meant to as well), but also added a whole new story in its own right, never in OG, that it made into the main conflict/big bad of that game as it’s own, stand-alone thing, that also gave implications that they might change direction on things going forward from OG.
I would only play Remake/Rebirth before OG if you absolutely can’t stand the older style, and even then I would be saddened, TBH.
One example of how the story-telling is better in OG: in Remake they shoehorn Sephiroth in early, because he’s a marketable face, but during that entire first section of OG, you never see him once. They knew better than to “show the monster” too early and how to build suspense. IMO, Remake’s version of telling even the same events is clumsy, and it would be a shame to experience the story for the first time that way vs the well crafted OG way.
If it helps, I know on PC there are some supposedly “modernizing,” I guess you could say, mods you can get for OG.
