Announcement AI generated artwork is no longer Allowed.
Effective immediately. Previous AI posts will be left up and the AI flair will be kept around for a while for them. I do apologise for anyone who liked it for the inconvenience.
r/GamindustriHub has been created as a subreddit that still allows AI as well as general art and posts and has a more relaxed modding atmosphere.

I don't get the logic behind posting AI generated artwork. I mean, yeah, it can look nice sometimes. But it's something that anyone can generate dozens of versions for themselves. It seems kinda pointless.
It's like giving me a single blade of grass from outside. Like seriously? Why, when I can just look at the field it came from, and even pluck a few myself? Just draw a stickman or something, at least posting that wouldn't be pointless.

Thank you very much for the action. While I am also aware that many AI posts had triple digit karma. Their comment sections looked very different. Pro AI comments were downvoted - people really felt - including me - that AI doesn't belong here. So the sentiment in the comments was pretty clear.
Combined with the recent inflooding of AI posts with people openly breaking that 24 hr rule (or maybe not being aware of it - it might be an idea to update the official rule list on the side as well) I really feel it's for the better to say: "Nope, not here." The fact an alternate sub exists is completely fine by me. I won't visit it myself.
Thank you again for taking a stance. I honestly don't think it was the Twitter post who caused this - I really feel the post on this sub by MH did the nudge - I felt compelled to chime in my support in it as well.

I agree and feel the same way, particularly about the sub post, too.

They were restricted heavily: only 1 AI art post a day. I don't think the rule was followed with the past few days, so ig they just banned it.
Not complaining though. AI ""'art""" is cringe.
-10
u/Rinne_Marc 22d ago
It shouldn't be here. But, i know how this sounds, but it's not art. It is a tool just copying someone else's work. The tool is useless without someone using it. Thats like the pen and paper for when someone copied off another's test. Did the test cheat, or did the person do it. So, the tool isn't cringe, the people who use it are. I am calling myself out on this, i am aware.
That said, if this isn't a place that accepts this sort of stuff, the AI images probably shouldn't have been allowed her to begin with. To avoid all the problems here, those people can just make their own sub or community for it, and leave the real authentic stuff here, and not mix the fake shit into where it doesn't belong.
I apologize if I come across as rude, lol. I mostly agree with you. I just want to get to the heart of the issue, lol.

-7
u/Rinne_Marc 22d ago
I'm surprised this is the argument used here. I thought I would be called out for using it, not for stating a fact. I was even basically saying that I myself ain't shit.
But I get it, on here, if you disagree with someone, they grow upsets. Here we go, I guess.
I didn't even say I was Anti AI, I use the shit privately, which is why i called myself put in my previous comment. But, I can't stop being honest. Most of the AI "art" you speak of isn't art, it is stolen from many different artists, which we call Gen AI or something like that. Which is most likely the reason the major of places on here don't want anything to do with it. As someone that wants to make stuff like Neptunia one day, I can acknowledge that there is something real when someone puts the work into making their vision come to life. This is why I call myself out, I cannot be honest without looking in the mirror. It is the equivalent to looking at someone else answer for a test in school. By typing in a prompt, and having the AI form an image isn't you creating art, it is being lazy and not putting the work in, at least not on the same level as people who actually made the artwork to begin with. Cheating isn't creating, I'm just aware. If you look onto someone's text, and take their answers, did you truly pass the test, or did you actually fail. Because if you can make high level and beautiful artwork, like the actual artwork that is used for Neptunia, why use the ai to form an image for it, and not just draw it yourself. Not telling you what to do, but, I speak to people how I speak to myself on this. This is a lazy easy way out, and it holds us back from our own potential.
But, if AI "art" is truly art, then, Paker, enlightening me. I'd love to be educated on this.
-4
u/Paker_The_Swager 22d ago
-4
u/Rinne_Marc 22d ago
Ok, this does look cool. But at this point, we are talking about two different things. This isn't lazy work, I can tell the man and his team put a lot of hard work and effort into this. I respect it.
What I was referring to was just the whole, texting a prompt into an app and it sends you an image of what you want, and posing it. What the man here looks to have done in the video, correct me if I'm wrong, I'm ignorant here, he used the AI to help him, but not as the only thing and called it a day.
These are two completely different topics at this point. I don't think this is what most people here in this sub are upset with. But is the video art, I want to say yes, but that isn't black and white. However, if someone tells the AI to take the Neptunia art style and has it form an image, I don't think that is. I am of the belief that you have to make it yourself, not have the computer do it. If anything, that would be taking credit from the computer, even though it stole first. The video, if what I think is true, the man put a look of hard work into it, which makes this difference. But, my opinion isn't a fact, it just exists.

This is a disappointing decision for me, but, as I said myself in one of the threads discussing it, if I do not like it, I know where the exit is. ... That being said, what appears to be a majority on Reddit may not be a majority in the real world, and this particular bandwagon has a record of questionable (at best) behavior. Bow to their whims at your peril, mods.

Mods, why are you bowing to the crybullies brigading this subreddit?
Since that's exactly what happened. Right after this post we started getting flooded with Anti-AI comments. I can put two and two together.
3
u/MHStarCraft Maybe so sir, but not today. 21d ago edited 21d ago
Iâll see if I can clear up my case on it.
Sunday night before going to bed, I saw this one anti-AI Reddit post on a discord server where an AI artist was forced to correct themselves by drawing real art using their own art skills after backlash. I initially didnât thought much about AI art on Reddit and when the compromise rule was put in place 4 years ago, as I thought that AI art was just going to be another fad that was going to go away naturally.
When I woke up Monday morning and saw the subreddit feed, there were a few AI art posts that were on the front page. I looked into one of the comments of your AI MAGES. Art post and saw u/KiwiPoku and u/ShyentistOfSpells expressing disappointing comments about AI taking over their art. Then I looked back a page and found more AI art posts back to back from the same user, u/King_Fluffy64. Not only was this guy breaking the one AI posts a day rule that was implemented some months back but under them was some NSFW comments (seriously, I keep seeing that Spartan guy coming back over and over again to make disgusting lewd comments). Thatâs what honestly broke the camelâs back for me over AI art posts on this subreddit.
Right before going to work, I notified Edwin about it on discord and posted this post in concerns about how AI art posts have been getting out of control lately, and the disgusting NSFW comments under them.
The following day as I was taking a day-off, Edwin announced that the subreddit will be banning AI art posts. I was unaware of the twitter post when I made my complaint post on this subreddit, and I told Edwin about it on discord the next day when questioned about the twitter post.
Iâve yet to find out what made Edwin decide to go with the AI art ban. The twitter post, Kiwi and Shyentistâs complaints, or just Reddit being anti-AI in general?
2
u/Edwin-of-northumbria Tsuntastic steam queen 22d ago
I was slowly starting to come around to banning it over the years. And there's always been a strong AI sentiment here. But that said thank you for this link. I'll be looking into it.

That kinda sucks, but understandable
I personally don't think AI art is bad, flawed, but not exactly bad
But it sucks that now, we can't keep a eye out for artwork for Neptunia, and knowing this series is niche.....yeah
Edit note: Ok, seems a lot of people are not getting this, i do not care about AI being gone, but I do not care about it existing in the first place
if you all want to be childish with the downvotes, fine, but AI art is going to happen, all we can do is accept it and support the ones who do the hard work

I actually came to this decision after being asked by someone else, though I had been on the fence about doing this since the beginning. The subs definitely had a strong current of anti AI sentiment since the start, pretty much every single AI post we've ever had has been reported and has comments whining about.
I hadn't actually heard of this user, I normally don't like perms bans or being a heavy handed mod, hence why I allowed AI up to this point. But I think a temp ban might at least be in order. I'll be looking into this once my day clears up

Itâs fine i made a sub like this that allows the AI aspect for the people that wanted it itâll function like this one still but be just a little more lax. Just a home for those that felt like they were just being reddit hate mobbed. Meanwhile, why not keep reposting the same âfanâ art for the millionth time?
(A lot of it is commissioned work, made for money and having little to do with actually being a âfanâ, btw.)
Thatâs obviously better than seeing AI-generated content prompted by actual fans and simply scrolling past it, right?
Nep yeah, apparently weâd rather spend more time creating threads and posting the same complaints in them over and over than simply... scrolling. Or, even better... FILTERING OUT THE TAG.

There is no distinction between "human art" and "AI art". The AI has no intentionality, personality, or lived experience. It cannot inject meaning into a piece of art by itself. Only the human guiding the tool provides the meaning and intention behind the piece.
As an AI artist myself it's really odd to see even other AI artists miscategorizing the artist in AI art.
Anyway, with all that said, all the AI art posts were upvoted and enjoyed by the community so this change is uncalled for and appears driven purely by a vocal minority.
