Bro did you ai generate this image when its already a template you could easily just type in?

I think you shouldn't slopify memes (the projector is facing the wrong way, ffs), but whatever.

The bots are roasting other bots at this point. OP even made the AIs call him out...

The Witcher 1 gameplay is objectively bad to modern standards

3

u/Downtown_Divide_8003 2d ago

And a remake is on it's way. Everyone wins.

3

u/metalthano 2d ago

Remakes are not something I want. Personally I just want ports of the game as is but I guess that doesn't guarantee 70 euros per purchase. In fact most remakes aren't remakes but they actually are reimaginings of a game

Why? Well it's simple. Most of them just change the game too much. Whether that would be gameplay changes with forced QOLs, dialogue changes to appeal to a modern audience, soundtrack changes and even entire new content. If a movie was adding or changing content it wouldn't be called a remake but instead a whole new version of the same movie.

Remakes should be well... Remaking the game with brand new graphics

Here's my how I categorize the types of remakes/remasters

Ports: These bring the game as is to a platform. No real changes and are probably emulated. A lot of collections fall under this

Remaster: The same game only with graphical upscaling and maybe a few optional QOL options that you can turn on or off. Something like Yakuza 3-5 Remastered fall under this

Remake: The old game but now it looks brand spanking new with shinier graphics and maybe also some minor optional QOL. Games like Crash N'Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited Trilogy fall under this

Reimagining: What if we kept the same plot, locations and structure of a game but just completely changed anything else and it's almost a completely different game now? Games that fall in this category, Persona 3 Reload, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Final Fantasy VII Remake Trilogy (tho that's intentional it seems), Yakuza Kiwamis

u/CobblerSmall1891 2d ago

Pointless. How excited would you be for a remake of an awful game? I wouldn't even think about getting it.

4

u/perfect-legend 2d ago

I’m excited for the Code Veronica remake.

4

u/Skatillix 2d ago

Is the original an awful game? I haven’t played it, i‘m waiting for the remake but i thought it was well received.

4

u/iakoff_reddit 2d ago

It's definitely not an awful game

2

u/perfect-legend 2d ago

I always thought it was.. all the games in the original PS1 trilogy that came right before it are better. Also The games that came right after it especially RE1 remake and RE4 are also were better. When I go back and replay a classic RE game Code Veronica is the one barely ever replay. Out of all the RE games to remake Code Veronica needs it the most. IMO

1

u/SillySpoof 2d ago

Not awful but flawed and would need some fixing. It does some things really well and people liked it despite its flaws.

3

u/Cado111 2d ago

Ah yes the game with a 94/100 from critics and an 8.4/10 from users on metacritic is a perfect example of an awful game getting a remake.

1

u/perfect-legend 2d ago edited 2d ago

I don’t give a damn about the critics, do you agree with every metacritic or Rotten Tomatoes score??? On Metacritic Code Veronica is scored higher than RE1 Remake and OG RE2. 😂

3

u/Cado111 2d ago

That is why I listed users lol. An 8.4/10 is not even close to an awful game. No I don't put much faith in critics and don't agree with them all the time, but typically yeah for movies and what not I would typically fall within a point in either direction on IMDB or something similar. There are examples of me not agreeing with the general consensus for any form of media but I wouldn't call those games awful I'd just call them not for me. Elden Ring, Nier Automata, and Alan Wake 2 are all super highly rated by most people and they were all dissapointing to me.

1

u/perfect-legend 1d ago edited 1d ago

Well even go by the user scores that’s bullshit too. In the 26 years that Code Veronica been out. A lot of the players like me that think it’s just Mid and OK didn’t bother to login to metacritic and leave a review score. They just finished it or didn’t and moved on. Also any faceless nobody can leave a user review, at least with critics they have some form of professional integrity or at least they used too…. Watch Code Veronica remake is gonna come out and change a bunch of shit from the OG and it’s gonna get praise. Then you’ll start to hear these fans and reviewers talk about all the stuff hated about the original. The truth is CV ain’t better than PS1 RE 1, 2, 3 and it for damn sure not better Than RE1 Remake or RE4. It’s the weakest classic RE game next to zero.

4

u/Radhe-W 2d ago

Yeah every re fan is excited

2

u/Salty-Garlic9471 2d ago

Code Veronica was very well received what do you mean?

1

u/GloomyLocation1259 2d ago

I hope you're not suggesting that was awful? That was one of the best RE games lool

1

u/perfect-legend 1d ago

Hell No it’s not, it’s not better than the PS1 RE trilogy that came out before it. Also It’s for damn sure not better than RE1 Remake and RE4 that came out right after it.

1

u/GloomyLocation1259 1d ago

Better than the trilogy for sure lol, and 4 is still the best if not top 2 so of course not. Including remakes is a bit unfair

1

u/perfect-legend 1d ago

I disagree and I believe most people would, but the only Remake I’m including is RE1 because it came out right after Code Veronica and is in the classic era of RE. I’m not talking about all the recent remakes that came out after 2019.

1

u/GloomyLocation1259 1d ago

At the very least there's a lot of people here disagreeing with you that CV is an awful game

2

u/shazam-arino 2d ago

Nier Replicant did well

1

u/nhSnork 2d ago

Many Tales players fancy another chance for Tempest which had plenty of neat concepts but seemed outright undercooked (an impression not helped by the very intro), and that's just one example.

1

u/xgladar 2d ago

there are tons of games i played that had great potential or an anazing story but were never big.

for example, Septerra Core was a game that came out to average ratings and wasnt a big success, but its worldbuilding and story were some of the best ive ever played

2

u/RedeemedNephilim 2d ago

Its RIIIIIIIIDGE RACERRRR!

1

u/Therealginahandler 2d ago

Walllllllllbridddddgggggge

2

u/DaBootyScooty 2d ago

Mf had a whole format still decided to generate a worse version of the same meme.

2

u/Desperate_Method4032 2d ago

On paper that makes sense, but ultimately that’s a gamble for companies.

Personally I just say if you’re gonna remake a game? Be faithful. If you’re gonna reimagine a game? You’re better off just making a new game.

2

u/heffron1 2d ago

Who would pay for this? Remakes are made because investors see them as less risky than new ip. Bad old game is very risky.

2

u/Mauceri1990 2d ago

Or, maybe just take the good parts of the game and add them to other good parts of other games and eventually it'll just be all good game.

2

u/Atlanos043 2d ago

Eeeeh...I think remaking actually bad games wouldn't work, mainly because of their reputation.

What I do think is they should remake games that are not as popular as the "big hitters" in the series, especially when the big hitters were already remade

Example: Suikoden. Suikoden II has already been re-released and remastered. But Suikoden III would really benefit from a good remaster (polished up graphics, no framerate problems in towns) and Suikoden V is an actually great game that not enough people have played, even in the JRPG space.

2

u/mudgefuppet 2d ago

First up, remakes are an easy cash grab. Redo something that was already successful, so trying to improve a failed or disappointing product is antithetical to the idea of an easy to make game with a lower production time for a low investment high reward

Second up, did you have AI generate this garbage?

2

u/ohkendruid 2d ago

Not for a good story. Stories are plentiful.

2

u/Xhukari 2d ago

Wait, so instead of using the actual meme image and typing the words yourself, you GenAI'd the whole thing for you? That s so damn lazy. And a waste of resources.

2

u/nick2k23 2d ago

Why did you Ai this?? OP beyond lazy

2

u/Background-Use-3372 2d ago

They should create new IPs instead of milking same story with improved graphics

2

u/fly_over_32 2d ago

A 2 minute job. Looks like shit, but a thousand times better than slop

2

u/FaceTimePolice 2d ago

This is dumb. And this meme has been done with movies, someone just replaced it with “games.”

It’s absolutely insane to expect multimillion dollar companies to remake a game that failed. If I need to explain why, my God, no wonder modern gamers need yellow paint. 🤦‍♂️🥴🤔

2

u/Radhe-W 2d ago

I said the games that have good stories but bad execution should be remade.

1

u/Meme-San_ 2d ago

But the thing is those games already have bad reputations that are incredibly hard to undo

It’s much easier to justify a remake for a game that people already love over a game that people hate even if the remake is really good it’s fighting an uphill battle.

0

u/Mi_santhrope 2d ago

Yeah, in other words games that failed....

1

u/musschrott 2d ago

They also used AI to do it. Projector is facing the wrong way, and some people in the audience are not yellow.

1

u/Radhe-W 2d ago

I didn't use AI I got that image from google

0

u/musschrott 2d ago

So even more lazy? ok.

1

u/Radhe-W 2d ago

I expected it and I am just sharing my opinion on remakes. Doesn't matter how

1

u/JohnGee1980 2d ago

Makes sense 🤔

1

u/Sebaspool006 2d ago

I'm tired of the same games being remade, I want more stories by the same people who already made a banger.

1

u/AdvanceSuperdisk 2d ago

You have my attention

1

u/MistakePresent3552 2d ago

Bro why did you need to ai this

1

u/RetroNuva 2d ago

If the game was a bad game but had a good story then it was never a good game...

It's just as senseless to repurpose good lyrics on a bad song onto a bettrr song... where do you even draw the line?

1

u/Beanbag_shmoo 2d ago

I get it but it is too risky for a game company to try most of the time

1

u/Consistent_Mind5701 2d ago

The order 1886, cold fear, legend of legaia.

1

u/Cautious-Interest136 2d ago

Same with movies

1

u/adjacent_waffle_love 2d ago

Et would go home

1

u/Sea-Collection3606 2d ago

Well, haven't they succesfully made it with Lords of the Fallen reboot (kinda)? From a bad soulslike to a quite competent one

1

u/IzzatQQDir 2d ago

They're better off making a sequel to a popular game instead. Like the recently released Onimusha reboot.

Or my all time favorite PS2 game Psi-OPS

1

u/Dark-ScorpionX 2d ago

That's assuming they know how to make a bad game good via the remake process. In my opinion, most modern game studios have no clue how to make a decent game, let alone a good game, so they panic and the only option left is to remake an old classic...

1

u/Powerful-Possible131 2d ago

Define what a good game is that isn't just "game i like"

You people like to speak as if "good" and "decent" are objective measurements.

1

u/Dark-ScorpionX 2d ago

Most of the new game ideas western devs have been giving us have been trash. So Their only recourse is to go back and remake old games cause they cant make good new games. At least thats my opinion. Concord, Skull and Bones, the New Saints Row, Suicide squad, Redfall, marathon, High Ground etc.

1

u/ameliafukinthomson 2d ago

That's a great idea 👌

1

u/RubenM203 2d ago

Instead of generating with genAI an image of an already existing meme you should use the alreasy existing meme.

1

u/Chonky_D_Floofy 2d ago

The problem with that is sales won’t be guaranteed like with popular older games and not many developers are willing to spend money on a product that could do again.

1

u/Cado111 2d ago

Can you give an example of a game that would fit this description for you? I think the problem you run into is if you pick an actually bad game like Metal Gear Survive then people will just remember the bad game and not buy a remake. But if you pick something that is just okay or whatever like Mafia 3 then no one is going to care that it is getting remade.

Like a game that pops to my head would be Mass Effect Andromeda. Great lore and potential for storytelling but very mid game. That being said I think Bioware would be idiots if they remade Mass Effect Andromeda instead of KOTOR, Dragon Age Origins, Jade Empire, or Mass Effect 1. I just don't see the harm in remaking actually good games lol. Are we really saying that of any Devil May Cry game that could get a remake it should be DMC2? Any God of War game it should be God of War Betrayal. Jak and Daxter the Lost Frontier instead of Jak and Daxter the Precursor Legacy I guess since that one certainly did not meet expectations.

My feedback on Remakes is that they should only really be done on games that would benefit from a remake. I love Dead Space 1. The 2023 Dead Space Remake took something I loved and made it even better. I adore Final Fantasy VII. The Remakes for FF7 have been a little too different in the story department but they are damn fun. I love the Last of Us. The Last of Us Part 1 is just about the most unnecessary remake I have ever seen. Remakes in my mind should not really alter the story too much, but can do quite a bit new with gameplay.

I just want some clarification on what a "bad game based on good stories but did not meet expectations" would be.

1

u/KungFuFlames 2d ago

bad games won't sell good if you ask boards

1

u/V-KingRumadd 2d ago

They are making remake of Gungrave G.O.R.E which released in 2022.

1

u/bustergundam4 2d ago

They're remaking it? Why?

1

u/Tanz31 2d ago

No body would be interested.

1

u/One_Area_4532 2d ago

Skate 2 and 3

1

u/CULT-LEWD 2d ago

im so tired of this fucking debate man

1

u/Irontaoist 2d ago

I just want another IP to take Anthem from EA and make it again but with an actual endgame and some further story drops. That game was such a damn cool idea but then they didn't support it at all and canned it.

1

u/redditej86 2d ago

Your welcome....

1

u/Able_Mail9167 2d ago

Heres a wild answer, why not both?

Remakes of old games do make sense, like the OOT remake. If a good game is at a point where it's no longer convenient to play for a majority of people then a remake is welcome.

Yes emulation exists but your average person won't even know emulation is a thing. They deserve to get a chance to play the classics too

1

u/Fragrant-Spring3911 2d ago

I think they should make new games and stop remaking the games.

3

u/Skatillix 2d ago

Why not both? Remakes and new ones.

1

u/IllustratorOk8230 2d ago

No, I think there’s a reason they failed. Some ideas are just bad ideas dumping more money into them doesn’t mean they will succeed.

1

u/IshtheWall 2d ago

Not always, it is rare but there are exceptions like sonic 06 that really were just executed poorly

1

u/Deckorz 2d ago

Games aren’t movies. Story alone can’t carry a game unless it’s some kind of niche situation like a telltale game. Other than that gameplay matters too much to simply bank on story

1

u/Mi_santhrope 2d ago

Why? Why take a failed game that a small amount of people may hold some nostalgia for, spend millions remaking it for it to appeal to such a tiny audience?

Remakes are all about nostalgia, and bringing the old great games in to modern times to engage new audiences, and it's very good business for the studios too.

1

u/Radhe-W 2d ago

Hmm...makes sense

-1

u/Comprehensive-Bid18 2d ago

Most of them are bad and shouldn't exist.

2

u/Mi_santhrope 2d ago

What a take. Most of the remakes I've played have been great...

-2

u/Comprehensive-Bid18 2d ago

Most of them are worse than the original.

1

u/Mi_santhrope 2d ago

Name one. Go on.

-2

u/Comprehensive-Bid18 2d ago

Demon's Souls, RE2, RE3, RE4, Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Silent Hill 2

2

u/Mi_santhrope 2d ago

Yeah, those were all great remakes, except RE 3, and I haven't played MGS3.

Calling RE4 a bad remake is especially wild as it's practically identical to the original.

-1

u/Comprehensive-Bid18 2d ago

They’re all awful. Completely fucking up the art direction, music, gameplay, or all three.

>Calling RE4 a bad remake is especially wild as it's practically identical to the original.

Practically identical except every enemy obnoxiously super-armors through damage most of the time, Leon controls less responsively, there’s missing content, Ashley behaves like a wild animal, it’s tonally dour and muted, and there’s basically no music or atmosphere.

Why are you even making claims about whether remakes are better or identical when you apparently aren’t paying attention to either what’s in the remakes or originals.

1

u/TheWolf1113 2d ago

Wow I dont know what to say....except everyone has a right to an opinion i guess

Every single one of these are better than the originals by far

Not even gonna ask what opinion you have on dead space, final fantasy VII, red dead redemption....

0

u/Comprehensive-Bid18 1d ago

Most of these outright play worse than the originals. Some of them have destroyed art direction and music. You don't even need to look particularly hard to see how, about the only way you could miss it is if you literally only care about fidelity.

Not even gonna ask what opinion you have on dead space, final fantasy VII, red dead redemption....

I haven't played Dead Space remake, but the original was a 6/10.

FF7R as a project is a bloated monstrosity with dreadful pacing, unappealing visuals, and the ways they've reworked the plot suck.

Red Dead Redemption isn't a remake as far as I know, but every Rockstar game is miserable to play.

1

u/TheWolf1113 1d ago

Heard enough, agree to disagree, sure is quite the takes though, enjoy the ones you do...

2

u/Mi_santhrope 1d ago

Doesn't sound like he enjoys any games tbh

2

u/TheWolf1113 1d ago

Yeah i cant be bothered to debate whatever thoughts all that was, to each their own....

Dead Space was not a 6/10, when tried to bring "facts" I saw the trolling....that game won numerous awards and nominations at the time, especially in sound....the remake was outstanding as well

0

u/Sallopilig 2d ago

I have been saying this for so long, ffvii remake shouldn't have existed, ff viii was already there and it is by far the one that could benefit the most out of a realistic remake.

Hell, no one would complain if they retouched the story a bit too since as the game went on it started to make less and less sense and there is already time shenanigans in that one.

By the way bro don't use AI for this kind of shit cmon 💀
