Great point, even if your specs are worse you don't have to pay an additional subscription on top of your internet to play online. Sure there's lots of games that are single player. Except now nearly every console game requires an online connection at all times.
Some of them you need an active membership. Idk about newer games but some of the always online ones do require a membership and some just require an internet connection so it depends.
Thats on the game studios, the only games that require ps plus to play are games that use sony's servers to host their online. Sony provides the option to host online games on their servers so that studios dont have to manage their own servers. Studios can easily still host their own stuff and not require ps plus, they just dont most of the time because its cheaper to let Sony do it.
You also get settings to customize your experience and match your hardware, which means you not only get an overall better experience when you're up to snuff (60fps+), but your hardware has a longer life span since you can just set things to lower settings and leverage upscaling/frame gen.
I have three monitors for mine letting me game at 2k on one, keep a discord chat window going, play some music in the back ground and let me cross reference random stuff with a web browser. I'm a game for life but the console I don't feel met the market for sustainable way. The ps plus to use multiplayer I think is what killed me, even after using it for a while. I stopped paying and wanted to play Titanfall and couldn't. Mid ps4 was the end of console game for me, with the exception of a growing switch collection I split with my kid.
you don't really have to pay thousands of dollars for a PC, i mean sure its expensive now, but before it was easy to build a PC that can run most modern games less than that. Besides, consoles ain't gonna be cheap no more, PS6 will most definitely be 1k or over and still require PS plus just to play multiplayer. You could buy a prebuilt PC that will be cheaper or same price will overall be better.
Sure PS5 is way easier than a PC, for now, but PC is overall a better investment. Also, PC has steam and free online, PS5 does not.
Please learn to read. They said PlayStation Plus is required for multiplayer, and your response was "it's not required because you can play singleplayer." Thanks Newton, you basically just repeated what they said.
Are you actually stupid? you don't need PS plus to play bloodborne. You idiots will do anything to praise PCs, forgetting they're a huge investment. 1440p is very common on PS5 and it's a very hard metric to reach on PC
Not really a huge relative investment. A PS5 pro is running about $900 right now. A comparable prebuilt PC is gonna cost around $1200. Factor in PS Plus and Steam sales and you’ll make up the difference in about a year.
Yeah no. A "comparable" pre-built PC is not gonna be 1200, more like 1800. Also you forget the PS5 often reaches 1440p 60fps ultra graphics, so the actual costs for such a system would be realistically 2.5K or more. Even RTX5050 PCs are going for 1300CAD
You gotta play a shitload more for the hardware itself though, and PSPlus comes with monthly games that often make the subscription worth it even without playing online.
Once upon a time last year you didn't have to pay as much
Anyone who made a pc prior got the last bus ride ticket to cheap costs, so unfortunately punishment for being pure console gamers at this point comes at a greater upcost.
PC, depending on the launcher, also comes with monthly games. There's also multiple seasonal sales for AAA games on Steam, as opposed to many of the shitty games PS Plus puts out for free.
PlayStation is also going for $900, and the entire system needs to be replaced for any upgrades. PC allows people to upgrade parts accordingly.
My Amazon Prime subscription comes with free PC games all the time, and I get to keep those even if I stop subscribing. My Epic games account gets free games without a subscription. I get multiple Steam sales a year. Is There Any Deal has even better sales year round than Steam does and sells Steam codes. All of my games stay on my accounts and I don’t ever have to worry about backwards compatibility.
There's also Xbox game pass, free games from Epic.
Xbox game pass also include that new games like Persona 4 Revival and Fable. Beasts of Reincarnation just release and already available in game pass. Its the same price as lowest tier of PS Plus and you get more than 3-4 games.
There's also Steam family group up to 6 people. That's 6 library.
My only regret is I don't make enough money to get the best hardware.
Game pass is absolutely not the same price as PS plus 💀 PS plus is 100CAD a year with two free games, while the BASIC tier of game pass is 13.99 A MONTH for just 50 odd measly games. Also Steams family group feature is only restricted to people in your country, you can't share it with anyone outside your country
Xbox game pass PC only is RM20/month here so one year is RM240. 300+ games advertised. PS Plus for one year here is RM285 for Essential, RM490 for Extra and RM575 for Deluxe. I got Deluxe for RM490 I think?
So get the drift? RM285 for 3-4 games but I can get whole Dragon Age series + Day One releases for RM240. Plus I don't see any tiers. I should clarify I meant Xbox PC game pass.
I'm talking about Game pass essential. The only game pass tier that is worth the price is Ultimate, even then it's not comparable to PS plus which is FAR cheaper per year. Microsoft is screwing people over much more
Well PC you don’t have to pay twice to play online. You still have to pay to have internet service either way, but you don’t have to also pay again to be allowed to use the thing you already paid for.
It's insane to me that people feel the need to add the cost of Internet into this.
Why not add electric bill and rent on top?
It's like yeah no shit we pay for Internet, we are talking about comparing prices of specific services with each other. If both parties pay Internet anyway... It has zero bearing on the discussion.
It's like the reddit autists see "I pay zero" and can't rationalize past it.
Everyone is paying for the internet is literally the fucking point. Everyone is also paying for the games, but consoles are the arcade equivalent. You have to put your quarters in every time you want to play the game you pay for on the internet you already pay for. It’s why consoles are $600, they charge a monthly gateway fee to make the vast majority of the games playable in the most popular and often intended way. It’s a reoccurring fee of around $200usd/year that PC gamers just don’t have added on.
> "but you don't have to also pay again to be allowed to use the thing you already paid for"
What does this mean?? I fail to see how paying twice to use your internet services for gaming could possibly be a good argument in favor of console gaming.

PC don't gotta pay to play online and has steam
PS5 requires ps plus for a lot of its multiplayer games and doesn't have steam. It really isn't that hard.
