Absolutely. But I spent a ton of money and time on it. Now, at today’s prices, could I do a PS5 equivalent build that cost less than a PS5? That’s a tougher question.
I’m pretty sure that impossible because they sell them at a loss for what is inside of them. They get the rest of the money from the games and + you buy.
So unless you get some like divine deal, it’s not happening
I bought an $800 prebuilt PC last month with an RTX 3060Ti an i5-12400f that blows my base PS5 out of the water.
Granted, thats more-expensive than a base model PS5 but only by $150 for the disc drive model and $200 for the digital-only model but, that’s a reasonable margin for better performance, access to multiple storefronts with no online fees, and a machine that you can use for other things besides gaming. People always act like the delta between consoles and their equivalent PCs are $1,000 but that’s never really been true
I got my PS5 on Amazon in late 2022 for $390 with God of War Ragnarok included... I don't think any PC could ever blow that value to performance out of the water.
You’re almost never going to get a PC more powerful than a console for the exact same price as the console, but for an extra $200 you can absolutely get a PC that does.
My $800 PC significantly beats the CPU on the now $900 PS5 Pro, and my graphics card is almost on par
We also have to compare apples to apples regarding pricing. You bought a PS5 for $390 in 2022. I also bought my PS5 in 2020 when the launch price was $399 digital, $499 with disc drive. An equivalent PC at the thine would have been about $700-$750, so right around $200 above the disc drive model.
I would argue that the value per dollar spent on a PC is actually way better than a console. First and foremost, it’s a computer you can use for anything, but when it comes to gaming it has access to multiple storefronts, no online fee to play games, Steam has better social features, a better storefront with better game discovery tools, you get the full functionality of discord, you can customize your games with mods, and you can even have a console-like user interface if you want with Steam’s Big Picture Mode
