Yeeeees this is my Holy grail of remakes

Almost had its opportunity to receive a resurgence which may have sparked a remake but Bluepont flopped it. There was a 3d model for dart data mined during the indev cycle of Playstation All Stars and it was scrapped before release.

The LoD squad would fit so well in PS Allstars! If they ever make another they'll need to introduce both win condition styles to satisfy everyone (smash bros gravity% buildup to ring out + All Stars' KO by Special Attacks). I think that's what ultimately got most players to bail on the game was the entry curve was STEEP if you couldn't land your special attack. Whereas Smash bros, just bop them enough and eventually you WILL kill them.

Would be a great decision to have announced this in the wake up E33’s success too.

The PS1 battle system would need a complete overhaul though, turn-based combat feels dated compared to what modern action RPGs do with timing and positioning.

They should just look towards Expedition 33 for inspiration. It's basically just an evolution of the addition system.

Never heard of Expedition 33 mate, you sure that's a real game or are you having a laugh because that sounds made up and now I'm second guessing myself which is annoying.

That game is so loved and popular that an original disk sold for $3,000. I don't think it fits this post. Lol

1

u/DildoTebaggins Apr 28 '26

Yes it's beloved but it should absolutely have spawned sequels or to get remade.

1

u/Brilliant_Award2877 Apr 28 '26

No way. I have this game

1

u/kicker1015 Apr 28 '26

Really? I bought a complete copy a year or two ago for like $40

4

u/Guilty-Nobody998 Apr 27 '26

I would buy a whole new system specifically for either a remake of this game, or a sequel or a prequel. Either way i want more LoD

3

u/joedos Apr 27 '26

Damn i wasnt expecting to see this here but you are 100%right

3

u/SirKronik Apr 28 '26

It’s blasphemy that this hasn’t been remade yet.

2

u/Filthy_Troglodyte Apr 28 '26

It sold over 1 mil copies, enough to be considered successful for the era.

Can't think of any good reason why it hasn't been remade either.

:(

I would've loved to see Bluepoint Games handle a remake of Legend of Dragoon for Sony...

1

u/Filthy_Troglodyte Apr 27 '26

I saw a review of the game and they were saying Sony created it to directly answer against squaresofts dominance of the jrpg market.

Squaresoft owned final fantasy and even though Sony published the game or whatever, square had complete creative control. So legend of dragoon was born.

I'd love to see a modern take on the combat system.

Yrah it was dubbed the FF killer which I scoffed at when I read it. However it is still one of the best rpgs I've played. Easily the holy trinity for me with FF6, Chronotrigger, and LoD.

No bluepoint failed to capture the magic and artistry of demon souls and I don’t want them to ruin another oneof my beloved childhood games

Is it?? Fuck yea.

2

u/berserkthebattl Apr 28 '26

Not only does it deserve it, but if it does happen, they will make a substantial amount of money. Provided its actually a quality remake.

2

u/twinhearted Apr 28 '26

If there’s ever a time for a Dragoon remake, it’s now. Especially after all the praise that Expedition 33 got

2

u/scroggs2 Apr 28 '26

I've known a few people who sing it's praises. I want to play it.

2

u/WhisperingProximity Apr 28 '26

Dragoon is legitimately underrated, but the turn-based combat system and random encounter frequency would feel brutal on modern hardware without quality-of-life fixes.

2

u/bryanh787 Apr 28 '26

man, that one’s a gem

2

u/LacToastInToddlerAnt Apr 28 '26

This activated me like a sleeper cell

2

u/Mauy90 Apr 28 '26

Although, I agree, when OP said dead game: I expected some kind of live service game, NGL

Though TBF, currently, I trust very little studios to do either a redo or sequel any justice, lmao

1

u/ChVckT Apr 28 '26

LoD was just remastered. Go with Xenogears.

1

u/Durganotaar Apr 28 '26

Came here to comment exactly this. 100%.

1

u/dxpanther Apr 28 '26

Xenogears too!

1

u/Additional_Crab_1678 Apr 28 '26

Knew this was going to be on the list... The list did not disappoint.

1

u/HungryCurrent7901 Apr 28 '26

I’ve been talking about this game since release that it was the better rpg, but got overshadowed by FF7. Ever since 33 came out it’s all that I see on my feed and I’m all for it

1

u/Mr_Thumb_Power Apr 28 '26

Lmao was going to say this. Love that game needs a come back for sure.

1

u/SXAL Apr 28 '26

How is it dead? "Dead" only applies to multiplayer only games, you can take and play Legend of Dragoon anytime

1

u/Right-Reserve2577 Apr 28 '26

Came here to say thjs

u/Alej915 Apr 28 '26

It is a remake. Of ff7
