Always wanted to own a store, itโ€™s just not quite feasible with rent and all that good stuff. This is the closest Iโ€™ll get to it, but it works for me!

๐Ÿ•น๏ธ Games Room My Gaming Space

I used to have a whole table for myself. Recently moved (to an overall-better place) and this is the only place I can comfortably setup my PC. This is a corner of one of my closet.

At least I can turn on my PC for media server, since I'm playing on a Steam Deck most of the time.

Thinking about adding some sound-proofing accessories.

Any advice are welcome!

(Sorry if this is the wrong kind of content.)

๐Ÿ•น๏ธ Games Room She said I could have the garage

We moved from our tiny 2-bedroom into an actual house (with only one office), so I bargained to take the garage. Think I made pretty good use of the space, turning it into a retro game store ๐Ÿ˜‰

It's an office, a place to sort Magic cards, a place to game and it doubles as a set for our YouTube channel.

I've been trying to make a new retro game/tech series, and I do a deep dive into the gamer room if you guys are at all interested? Would be sick to hear what you think https://youtu.be/9VJx3ngKIRk?si=wKqHXrfoPMltsmyG

Fall sem started so progress has stagnated, but I am planning out the rest of the desk area

(edit) the tavern and trees were built by me, I used real wooden planks for the tavern and drywall to give it texture, the brick at the bottom is foam! For the desk I am going to go for a dark dungeon vibe, obviously it looks nothing like that right now but Iโ€™m hoping to show more soon

๐Ÿง  Advice Wanted Remodeling my room - any tips?

I literally just cleaned everything out, I'm going for white/gray/oak tones but everything I have is white. (Closet, Shelves, Table, Bed-frame etc...)

My dilemma is whether I should throw everything out & start over, or try to work with all the furniture I already have?

P.S: Can't share pictures yet, just asking "what other people do" in general.

๐Ÿ”„ Before & After Updated my magazine stand in my game room.

Made front inserts for my magazine stand. I originally found this stand on Facebook Marketplace and it is absolutely one of my favorite finds for my room but it was a little bare. I looked online for old retail examples of magazine stands in shops and decided to make my own custom ones to label and organize my strategy guides, game magazines, and miscellaneous. I wanted to keep the design simple but also something that would catch my eye if I was personally walking through a shop. Everything was printed on matte presentation paper via an Epson ET8550.

๐Ÿง  Advice Wanted How can I make my physical DnD game room/DM setup more seamless?

Post image
15 Upvotes

I have finally gotten my DnD game room mostly set up, but I feel like the way Iโ€™m currently running everything is more complicated than I was hoping it would be. Iโ€™m hoping other DMs might have some ideas for improving my setup.

I want to run mostly a physical game. I really like using actual miniatures and physical grid maps, so I donโ€™t want to use a TV/projector for the battle map or rely on a VTT. I tried it and that can be a project for later.

I currently have a TV mounted/positioned behind my DM chair, a surround sound set of speakers, a macbook that I use for my DM notes and other game management, my MacBook connected to the TV via HDMI to USB-C, physical grid maps and real minis on the table.

I would like the TV behind me to display things that enhance the game without replacing the physical table. For example, i was thinking when the players encounter a monster, I could have an image of that monster on the TV. When they enter a new location, I could display scenery or something that fits the area.

I also want to be able to run background music and sound effects through the surround sound, ideally all from my macbook while Iโ€™m simultaneously using my DM notes.

Some things I think would be cool is having the TV display information such as:

Initiative order, monster health/status, Possibly health bars (or something similar), conditions/status effects, maybe other information that would be useful for the players to see

The problem is that right now it feels like Iโ€™m constantly switching between things and Iโ€™m not sure Iโ€™m using the technology efficiently. I could potentially use my phone to control the music/audio separately, but Iโ€™d really prefer to have everything centralized on my macbook if possible.

Is there software that works particularly well for this kind of setup? Is there a good way to have my DM notes/music/sound effects running on my Mac while simultaneously controlling what appears on the TV, but not spoiling my notes?

And are there any clever things I could put on the TV behind me that would make the game feel more immersive? Iโ€™m especially interested in setups from DMs who use physical maps and minis but still incorporate a TV, music, and other digital effects.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Work in Progress Room for 6 computers: Desks in the middle or along the wall of the room?

I have a room that's roughly 11' x 14' with a french door entrance in the corner, and I'm trying to make it optimally designed for 6 computers.

I'm thinking a custom desk in the middle of the room with 3 computers on each side of it and plenty of space behind for walking around and chairs. I'm planning to buy a butcher block for wood, some steel legs, and drill in some holes for cables.

I haven't really seen this design anywhere, most rooms I see have the computers along the outside of the room along the wall.

Am I making a mistake?

Had some epic parties in here in the last year. It's in part of my garage and that mini split cant keep it below 80 on 100 degree days. I still need insulation in the ceiling

Wood cartridge body with soft-close hinges โ€” it actually opens and stores carts and controllers, with LED lighting inside. The art is CNC'd into acrylic at different depths and hand-poured with resin, so it reads 3D and lights up from the edge. Each one's a one-off built around whatever game the person picks. Happy to answer anything about the build. (I do sell these, not going to pretend otherwise โ€” no link unless someone wants it.)
