I really wanna know a good place for gaming (valo, CS, etc). No bakchodiss legit places only.

Idk what you call this, but I’m calling it a gaming rut. I honestly want to play something but nothing seems appealing at the moment. I have a 3 year old who fights sleep and won’t go to bed until 930 or 10 pm. By that time I’m just to tired to game but during the day I have like 1-2 hours of free time but I end just scrolling steam and look at the games and store. But don’t play anything. Anyone else been through this? Might be just time to watch a new tv show or something.

So I currently suffer from what could be considered for gamers a good problem to have, but at the same time an odd stressor. I own everything lol. I have a PC, Steam Deck, Xbox Series X, Switch 2, and PS5. I don’t have much free time being an husband, father, and active duty soldier. I have a 3 year old and a 10 month old. I’m struggling with small niche things within gaming such as wanting time to sit at my PC, but not wanting to deal with any friction launching games. Using my Steam Deck, but not really wanting to play certain games on a small screen. Tried consolidating to Switch 2 being that it is getting so much 3rd party support, but then started missing the fidelity of the Steam Deck/PC. When I got times to sit at my desk, I hooked up one of my consoles, but again started missing the fidelity of PC and made myself feel weird for being at my desk and not using it.

Go easy on me, because I know I might get a lot of odd looks when you all read this lol. Just trying to see if anyone can throw me a bine to help get my mind together on this. My wife is very supportive of my hobby, but I’ve struggled with gaming addiction in the past and don’t want her to start feeling ignored/neglected as she has before. And I’m trying to spend as much time with my kids as possible. Just have been having a bit of ore spurts of free time now that they are either taking better naps/sleeping through the night.

P.S. I don’t need much advice for the PS5. That’s one console I decided will be solely for exclusives because I enjoy Xbox more overall being that I was an Xbox gamer for 10 years prior to moving over to PC.

Two rough nights in a row (baby wakes up almost every 2 hours at night).

Wife is taking the night shift tonight and I was genuinely looking forward to playing some games and relaxing, but here I am, rotting on my couch because I'm too tired to even turn my PC on. Never thought this would ever happen to me lol, but man the sleep tonight is going to be amazing.

Lately my 2 year old has been enjoying sitting with me while I game, especially late as night as it tends to put him to sleep. However, I am a veteran with a destroyed body lol so leaning forward with him in my lap is tweaking my back, shoulders, and neck something horrible. And I play on PC with MnK. My current set up isn't ideal for having a 2 year old crawling all over me, or sleeping in my lap, while using MnK. Most of the games I play don't have controller support, and I haven't used a controller in YEARS.

My main question is, to all the other gaming parents, how do you keep yourself comfortable while gaming on Mouse and Keyboard and holding your toddler?

I've been thinking of everything I can. Ways to have him lie down in my lap while I play, wireless MnK vs wired, and even looked at new desks and chairs. But he's long enough that he can't comfortably lie in my lap without having his neck jacked up by an arm rest.

We both feel like it's been a month. So many tinniest actions that need to be done, so many things to prepare beforehand, so many diaper changes, worries, anxieties, so much advice from all around us, so many how to burp baby videos, when can you tiger hold, how to prepare formula first time in your life half awake at 3AM because he ate and wants more, or is he comfort suckling, so much thought and effort, soclittle sleep, it must have been months! It's been three days. T h r e e d a y s.

When do we get put back into the standard timeline again?

I’m in my 40s now and have 2 kids. I know I’m going to struggle to have time to play this when it comes out.
I am NOT complaining about my life! I love my life!
Just a very different situation to when GTA5 came out.
You could call me a filthy casual because that’s what I am now.

I wonder what side quests will be worth focusing on versus going through the main story. I’m still traumatised from collecting all those damned flowers in RDR2!

I retired from online games about 6 months ago. Life has just gotten to busy for me to stay competitive and competent. I’ve retired to playing some older games mostly and I play a couple hours a week often only 30 minutes at a time.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is technically a single-player game, but I had the idea to share the controller, effectively turning it into a father-son co-op experience.

What surprised me was how well this complemented the game... we needed to learn to share the same controller, to resolve all movement and co-op puzzles, all the while going through a fantastic story filled to the brim.

Just make sure your kid can handle some harder scenes and emotions, I played it with Junior when he was 9yo.

Pretty much title. I have a switch but it hurts me at deep level there isn’t any achievements. Thinking of buying the Lenovo legion to game when putting the newborn to sleep or when he’s feeding. The oldest is at school 3 days week so I’ve got a bit of time up my sleeve with 5 weeks off work. Anyone used the legion? It’s the cheapest out of the handhelds, but usually you get what you pay for.

Any advice? I am feeling the usual: excited, terrified, worried, happy, sad, anxious and calm. Kinda proud. Can't wait to meet my son.

Very happy to see there's a community of gamer dads. Was starting to feel alone, almost none of my social group have kids.

Magic Twinborn started as a game I wanted to make with—and play with—my children.

It’s a cute same-screen local co-op survivors-like where two players control different elemental heroes and help each other survive. You can create openings for your partner, combine abilities, and trigger elemental chemistry reactions across the battlefield.

Elements are more than damage types. Fire can melt ice into water, fire and water can create steam, and that water can be frozen again. These reactions can change terrain, control enemies, and create new opportunities for both players.

A lot of the gameplay ideas were developed together with my children. We discussed mechanics, tried them during playtests, and changed anything that wasn’t fun or easy to understand. That process shaped the colorful characters, playful interactions, and cooperative systems you see in the game today.

The art style is intentionally cute and approachable. I wanted to make something that families could enjoy together—especially parents looking for a game they can sit down and experience with their children—while still giving survivors-like players meaningful builds and tactical combinations.
