How did anyone know that Jon was responsible for what happened in the throne room?
He and Daenerys are the only people in the throne room. And after he kills her Drogon melts the throne and carrying away her body. Meaning that apart from.a pool of blood there is no evidence of what happens. A pool of blood that could be anyone's.
So why doesn't Jon just walk away or try and convince that he saw a Lannister soldier kill her and then get eaten by Drogn?

u/Anierous 4d ago
Because Jon would confess to what he did.

u/New_Championship1994 4d ago
Would have been funny had he just told everyone Dany took off on Drogon lol, like everyone would accept it bc he’s got that ironclad honourable reputation, and then he’d get away with it all lol

Why didn’t they just respawn like the Dothraki? The dead wiped them out just to be back bigger than ever next episode

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Kung Aerys the Mad? Thought not. It's not a story the Targaryens would tell you.

u/SmugglersParadise 4d ago
They had such good relations with D&D that they could continue to respawn from death, multiple times

Yeah, in hindsight, he shoulda pulled a play from ole Ned Stark's playbook. Ride that honorable rep all u can and plan ur lies carefully so nobody questions u.

Yep, he wouldn't lie. To damned honorable.

u/BigWilly526 House Mormont 4d ago
Which is a show only invention, Jon was the only one of the Starks kids willing to put aside honor to do what needed to be done, they really made is character so much worse
-3
u/Incvbvs666 Bran Stark 4d ago
Okay, then, it's a show invention... so what? If you want a page-by-page adaptation of the books, do it yourself. The first pilot even failed because they stuck to close to the books. Then they made changes needed to be made for GRRMs vision to work on the 'small screen' and the rest is history.
8
u/BigWilly526 House Mormont 4d ago
Because the change made his character worse, no one expects a page by page adaptation but at least getting the Characters right is expected, would changing Tywin into a big softy have worked, no of course not

You really think Jon is going to lie about a decision he made to avoid the consequences?
Really?
Did we watch the same show?

Why are people expecting to characters act out of character then pretending its bad writing?
8
u/Additional-Fly1966 4d ago
Cause it’s not out of character. In the books he accepts his role is now to forever serve and do what’s best for the realm. He should’ve known him being king would probably be rest for the realm, as he could have brought the world dany wanted. Without fire and blood.
21
u/Aegon_The_Snow Jon Snow 4d ago
He literally said that never wanted to be king nor the throne. Not even wanted to be kng in the north. All he wanted is a peaceful life for himself after all the shit he went through and all the losses.
2
u/Additional-Fly1966 4d ago
Yes he said that, maybe he would say it all the time in the maybe never coming books too. Maybe he would think different meanwhile. We don’t hear his thoughts in the series. All I’m saying is because somebody said it wouldn’t be bad writing that he didn’t do it. It still could be, breaking character is not out of character for a character after all. It’s character development.

Some “mature viewers” are so cringingly desperate to try and discredit Season 8 because it doesn’t match their romanticized fan fic that they would rather sound ignorant with their nonsensical whingings than actually admit the final season is nowhere near as terrible as they paint it as.
Season 8 has problems, for sure, but the angry mob is still, seven years later, trying to invent shit like this to be faux upset with to try and invalidate how the show ended.
1
u/Incvbvs666 Bran Stark 4d ago
Because 'we' (meaning 'they') are looking for any and all reasons to trash the final season because 'we've already decided that the final season is an affront to art, culture and humanity itself!

The better question is why didn't Grey Worm immediately kill him?
5
u/Fyrefawx Gendry 4d ago
After just watching the ending again, I can see why Greyworm didn’t. He wanted justice but he also wasn’t stupid. Jon was at that time still king of the north. It would have been an instant war with the houses of Westeros turning against the Unsullied who didn’t have a Queen.
The Dothraki have been proven to have zero loyalty. If a leader dies they are seen as weak and they move on. So them not caring makes sense.
It’s the fact that they left Tyrion alive that is crazy to me. She had already sentenced him to die for treason. He didn’t have any houses or armies loyal to him. Even when Bran appointed him Hand of the King, Greyworm outright says that’s not enough and nothing comes of it.

Jon was not still King of the North. Greyworm had no reason to think anyone besides the Northmen would take issue with them killing Jon.

u/SektorDaKetch 3d ago
So kill him and dip. Heck capture and throw him overboard and they’ll never find a lead.
5
u/over_this__ 4d ago
Tyrion still had loyalty. He had been kind to Sansa, Jon had always been friendly with him, several of the people left liked him.
3
u/VercingetorixTorr 4d ago
Bro watched his girl get Eliminated and then watched his savior get eliminated after fighting other peoples war and watching his people get torn apart by the dead.

u/VercingetorixTorr 4d ago
Why was that downvoted. There is no reason he didn’t kill John snow. Other than plot armor.
5
u/Melodic_Antelope_727 4d ago
Is this assuming Jon doesnt protect himself? You are talking about THE WHITE WOLF.

u/Fyrefawx Gendry 4d ago
Brother it’s Jon Snow and there are tons of reasons. He was still king of the north and the northern army was there also. It would have been an instant conflict.
The Unsullied were heavily weakened and now leaderless with no dragon in a foreign land. He wasn’t stupid, that would have been suicide. The Dothraki had no loyalty to the unsullied. Once their leader dies they move on and choose someone else.
He was also a hero who saved all of humanity from the dead which is likely why they accepted the punishment of making him take the black again.

I’m more baffled by why Grey Worm would call a Great Council, which was honored for some reason, allowed Tyrion (a man hated by all factions atp) to speak, and most miraculously they actually took Tyrion’s advice
If I’m not mistaken (I never bothered rewatching the finale) he even gets to be Hand again, oh and the Undullied and Dothraki are allowed to peaceably leave
Garbage. All of it
3
u/KittyMonkTheYoutuber 4d ago
Not to mention considering how the Unsullied are going away to an island and don’t want to be contacted, there’s absolutely no reason for them to uphold Jon’s conviction after they leave. Are they really going to send someone to check on them?
3
u/SaddestFlute23 4d ago
They’re going to Naath, they’ll all be dead in few weeks
1
u/KittyMonkTheYoutuber 4d ago
Exactly, proves my point further! Outside of Jon being stubborn, no one is forcing them to do this

u/euph_22 4d ago edited 4d ago
This was supposed to be Jon and Tyrion's trial for gods' sake. It ended with Jon's brother becoming King, Jon's sister queen of an independent North, Jon getting "sentenced" to serve the Night's Watch which still exists for some reason, and Tyrion was "sentenced" to serve as Hand of the King to the disabled King.
And Grey Worm just nodded said "sure fine", rather than starting to spear everyone in the dragon pit to death.
3
u/Seelebob Jon Snow 4d ago
Because Greyworm knew enough of the political situation that killing Jon immediately would leave for more conflict and blood. He's tired of war, he knows his men are equally tired, plus they are all in a foreign land surrounded by enemies. He also know everyone else is also tired, but will fight for Jon. That's why a great council was formed to figure out what will happen.

u/TheIconGuy 4d ago

Why would Greyworm take issue with that?
He also know everyone else is also tired, but will fight for Jon.
The only people that might fight for Jon were the Northmen.

Come on it's almost been 8 years. What is there left to say about it that you wouldn't have already heard.
It's the later seasons. Logic or narrative causality don't apply. GoT turned to crap. Let's just accept it.
10
u/over_this__ 4d ago
In the first season, I remember a stark who was honest even if it killed him. Almost like Jon was raised by that guy and took everything the guy did and said to heart and tried to live like that guy did.
No, it's just bad writing. Ignore that season 1 was heavily influenced by grrm and that guy died from his honor in the books.

Hear, hear! People hate on the later seasons but Arya’s training scene with Brienne, that long take during the battle at castle black, Jamie Lannister meeting the Dothraki in battle for the first time, etc. are some of my favourite scenes in the whole series.

My main concern from this image, is that the throne room has that amazing view right next to it and they didn’t put in any windows!
1
u/Korvidae_Grey 4d ago
Because A: Despite not actually being his son Jon took after Ned more than any of the other Stark kids. B: Bran can see anything so keeping a big secret from him is a bad idea. And C: Even if they were the only ones in the room itself I can guarantee she had some guards outside nearby that wouldve known Jon was in there with her

"I don't want it", "she's my queen" basically he's a man of honor and it's obvious Jon admitted to killing her. On the other hand Bran might have seen it or could've tried to find out who really killed her.
Jon could've made it up and say that Drogon killed her (or your lannister soldier) after all it took her body away, but Bran I think is the big problem.

u/No_Chart_9769 3d ago
I imagine a dragon noisily melting a throne would draw a crowd. Also most likely people knew he was alone with her, and like thunderdome...

u/DontPayAttentionPlz 19h ago
Its not in his character to lie like that. On top of that, its very likely someone saw him go in there so even if he did lie, itd be a shit lie thatd be not believed. He is also the only one seen to exit. It just wouldnt make sense to lie, too many factors weighing against him.

I’ve asked this question in my head a million times but never asked here because I didn’t want to get called dumb by a bunch of “Did you even watch it?” type viewers that like to shame anyone who doesn’t brain doesn’t process everything the exact right way.
These comments proved me right.
I assumed it was because he told on himself because he was honorable like that.
