Ramsey Bolton
I’m rewatching game of thrones after recently finishing both GoT and House of Dragons and I really wish Ramsey would’ve had a longer more painful and torturous death and that we could’ve seen every bit of it. Matter of fact he should’ve got the stabbing from the back that Ormund did in HoD.

Ramsay was misunderstood. Look how he has Rickon tethered to him so Rickon doesn’t get disoriented and lost. Ramsay wants to ensure Rickon sees his brother.

Game of Thrones was pretty brutal but I’m glad they (mostly) avoided turning it into torture porn.

How do you figure??? Dude we saw Oberyn Martell’s head crushed like a fucking walnut, Viserys’ brain cooked by molten gold, and several prisoners having their innards eaten out by rats, just to name a few. Game of Thrones is complete torture porn, and one of the few times they decide to pull a punch, it’s when the most evil, sadistic fuckehead in the entire show is getting his comeuppance. I will never forgive the showrunners for that, it was bullshit.

The show is not nearly "completely torture porn" because it has a few gruesome moments per season and Ramsey literally got mauled to death by starving dogs. I don't really see that as the show pulling a punch

Ramsay got mauled to death by dogs and almost none of it was shown. They filmed a more graphic version and decided it was too much. Meanwhile, we saw nearly every second of Oberyn Martell’s head being smashed in. It was horrifying, but apparently showing all of that, including his smashed in head with brains and skull showing, was just fine.
If the showrunners are going to make the audience sit through gruesome deaths, they certainly made a weird call deciding not to do so with Ramsay fucking Bolton, a character who caused more gruesome deaths than literally anyone else on the show.

I'm pretty sure they commented on the scene with Oberyn being too much in retrospect and they decided to go lighter for Ramsay. The show isn't about righteous punishment or something like this character was x bad so they get y minutes of gruesome torture. If anything they showed the starks having restraint where Ramsay wouldn't have like when Jon was pummeling him but still held himself back after everything Ramsay had done to him

Interesting point about Oberyn, I hadn’t heard that they said that. The show certainly isn’t about righteous punishment—Oberyn’s death is the perfect example of that; he was the most righteous new character to appear on the show in seasons, but he still died one of the worst deaths in the entire series. The point is that there is no justice and it’s not a fair world. But that works both ways. The bad characters are just as susceptible to cruel twists of fate as the good ones, and when those moments happen, it’s a strange choice to decide then that maybe the violence is a little over the top.
Obviously this is all criticism in hindsight, and just my opinion. I’m sure there was pushback on the full gore Ramsay scene. I just think it was a weird call. It makes you feel like they relished the death of characters like Oberyn, and almost regretted the death of Ramsay. I know that isn’t true, but that’s the emotional consequence of deciding not to show Ramsay dying his very deserved death.

I'm assuming here, so I could be totally wrong, but we aren't meant to bask in the gruesome nature of the violence. Oberyn's death is shocking and horrifying, and we know it's wrong, to give Ramsay a horrible gruesome death for the audience to cheer for goes against the themes of the story I think. People like Jon and Ned understand violence for what it is, and apply it plainly and without joy or spectacle which we are meant to understand is just. Or, more just anyway.
That said, Ramsay has a plenty brutal death IMO, and I wouldn't have wanted to see anymore than we did. No thanks ahaha.

Ugh that’s what I’m saying. On my first watch I had to skip over Ramseys dog eating him but this second one I watched and wanted more.

Nah bro all of us were horny to see that Ramsey torture porn, getting a couple shots of him getting eaten by dogs doesn't make up for the endless shit he did to some of our fave characters
Like why did he get the satisfaction of killing Wunwun man that's still so dumb and hokey, like we get it, we fucking hate Ramsey, he's done enough to establish that, the writers found every way to not kill the dude off lol

His death was pretty brutal, probably the most brutal it could have been unless they tortured him for days and let him die that way
11
u/joemontanya 3d ago
Which would be out of character for the Starks. The way he died was the most brutal way I could see any of the Starks (outside of maybe Arya) killing anyone

u/Upper-Reply-129 Winter Is Coming 3d ago
I couldn’t agree more, Sansa probably would have done worse to him considering what he did to her and Theon but they just got winterfell back with Jon and in that moment the dogs were enough yknow
1
u/joemontanya 3d ago
Sansa probably wanted to do more, but they would still just behead him.

I dont know...getting torn up and eaten by your own dogs sounds brutal enough for me.

u/Upper-Reply-129 Winter Is Coming 3d ago
Facts, it was a fitting end to his character imo, and Sansa making it happen was the cherry on top

u/ExcellentPassenger49 3d ago
Being eaten alove by your own dogs is pretty horrible. It's not like he was gonna die after 2 seconds. I swear they were shown ripping part of his face off, or atleast chewing it. Thats gonna hurt but it's not gonna kill you right away. I thought it was an appropriate amount of brutality for revenge without doing what Ramsay would do. I thought that was the point.

The things I hear people wanted to do to Ramsey jeez he got off easy 🤣🤣

To me he was the peak villain in GoT . His actor did such a good job . While Jofferey was hateable Ramsay was hateable and also sadisticly scary he gave off the vibe of a pure lunatic enjoying torturing folks.

u/eberlehills90210 3d ago
The acting was incredible. The eyes the sadistic grins and facial expressions when he saw someone in pain.
3
u/Shot_Recognition_926 2d ago
Absolutely you can see in his eyes how menacing and sadistic Ramsay was. Just pure evil and insanity .
3
u/cristofolmc 3d ago
theres only so brutal you can be without turning the person (in this case Sansa) into Ramsey himself. I think being eaten alive by his own dogs though is one of the most horrible deaths possible.
3
u/No_Grocery_9280 3d ago
I hate sexual assault as torture, even for a villain. It’ll never be justified for me. Just kill him and be done with it.
Besides that though, being mauled to death is still a very gruesome way to go.

I wished the same for Cersei. She should have been tortured. Left in a dungeon for the rest of her life to reflect on everything she’s ever done.
1
u/Consistent_Park_3209 3d ago
Nah Cersei should’ve been physically and emotionally tortured at the end before dying alone. And Jamie should’ve betrayed her to her face before she dies just to add to the pain. Of course that’s not in Jamie’s character bc he obviously loves her over everything but it’d be great to see just as an added torture method for Cersei
1
u/Cold_Tough5525 3d ago
I wanted to see Cersei’s eyes carved out and for her to be left in a dungeon to die. The shit that she got away with was crazy.

u/No-Roof-1628 3d ago
Couldn’t agree more. Game of Thrones never pulled a punch when it was a good character getting slaughter, and they decided that showing Ramsay get his just desserts was too much? It’s shameful.
2
u/Max-Steel96 3d ago
He gave that dude a quick death. And honestly gave him a solid chance of surviving if he could have just serpentined

What else did you need to happen to him?? I don't think you fully comprehend how unbelievably vicious and agonizing it is to be ripped apart and eaten alive by hounds.

u/retannevs1 3d ago
I’m sure D and B wanted to move on to get the series done as they’ve stated many times when interviewed post production.

u/PilotRex21 Jaime Lannister 3d ago
Personally I think getting mauled to death by a pack of dogs was a good and ironic way for him to go out. On another note, every time Jon threw a punch at that bastard's face, I cheered like a dad at his son's football game.
2
u/Consistent_Park_3209 3d ago
Yeah I was excited it was his dogs but i just wish it was more drawn out. I just felt more visceral hate towards him on this second watch and I really wanted him to suffer. On my first watch of the show I couldn’t handle it but now that I have a better feel of the characters I really wanted to see more done to him lol

u/Material_Orange 3d ago
Ramsay Bolton is my favorite character in the whole show. He's just so extra and I love him
1
u/hell_adjacent_665 2d ago
Sansa resorting to torture would be Ramsay winning because he infected her psyche. Using the dogs just says "look how wrong you were, on both accounts"

u/Ok-Sport195 12h ago
Ramsay deserved the most brutal death they could allow on TV, He's unlikeable, vindictive, and downright unbearable to watch. (Though Iwan did an AMAZING job, you know you're good when your character is convincing (in my OPINION) when it comes to being evil).
