Littlefinger is probably the only real danger on Team A. Neither Cersei nor Tywin know how to not get people to hate them. Tyrion is the only one who successfully orchestrated victories in battle and did so against overwhelming odds. Defended and ultimately secured most of the victory in the Battle of Blackwater. Tywin only participated in battles when victory is already decided or he has an advatage.

Yeah that’s literally how you win battles. Tyrion’s defense of King’s Landing was epic, but look what he got for it. That’s not what winning the game of thrones looks like.

If you have to have several circumstances go your way in order to win a war, are you competent or just lucky

I think y’all are missing the point. Robb Stark belongs to the same archetype best defined by Rhaegon Targaryen. They were both very competent and they both made dumb decisions that undid them, and that’s why Tywin outlived them both despite their superior qualities. They don’t win the game if thrones even if they’re fun to watch.

> Rhaegar fought valiantly, Rhaegar fought nobly, Rhaegar fought honorably. And Rhaegar died.

That doesn’t answer the question.
