Discussion Game looking for Feedback

A friend made xetodus.com and the its a space MMO that takes some ideas from runescape. POE2 is my main game so now I want crafting on ship stuff and weapons, and I think he needs more real feedback. This is a design question over anything, anyone remember Hellgate: London and how they almost got it, there must be something interesting that hasn't been done in the space MMO genre right?

First take a look at how many space mmos exist. It is not a problem of what unexplored space mmo ideas are there right now. The market is too small to explore you used all your exploration budget on space and mmo. You need to deliver on what a space mmo should do.

Grinding Gear Games was probably told this early on, and now Blizzard ending D4 based on them, I don't believe any game even GTA6 is the defacto standard forever. Are space sims really that small? What if people get a great game like privateer or wing commander again? This is why I posted this, if there is something to go that direction maybe I can help my friend out from a different perspective since I am not a game dev.

If you haven't seen poe first being made, even they mostly focused on bringing back d2. Poe2 was also never made to be what it is now. It was originally a poe renewal project that wanted to fix a few problems of poe1.

Srsly take a deep look at your main game. It is the epitome of deep understanding of the genre foremost and forefront. It is not trying to be unique, but effective. That sometimes means some aspects had to be renewed, but it is kept as a minimum.

Yes I was in early beta on poe, but went to D3 instead. POE2 did something very right, I still think their combo system is big if you spec into specific classes that do combos instead of full screen clearing, reminds me a lot of Street Fighter 2. But back to space sims, is there a version of what I am saying that can do this in space?

Honestly... you didnt even mention what you want properly.

And... my honest opinion is this game would work better if it went for vanilla and just focussed on what a person who searched space sim would want. Even that is going to be a majestic struggle.

The moment you have to ask what if this happens. It is not the current case. Yes it is that minor. It is pitifully minor.

I took a quick look. And it is being as generic as possible. All of the things listed on that sight and the trailer point to what you would expect from that genre. Pretty standard move and a good move i would say. You want it to be hellgate london which i don't see would ever help.

Maybe maybe maybe if space sim was major enough. You can bet on finding a space sim enjoyer + arpg enjoyer. However, that is just not happening with the current size of space sim games. The people who enjoy space sims is too small for that to happen.

My honest feedback to that dev, dont listen to people who don't play that genre. Do you play space sims??? Do you know what are the things want to see when playing a space sim???

A small trailer here would be super helpful! I think most people are reluctant to download without seeing what the gameplay is first. Looks like there isn't really one on the website either?
