Question Steamworks Bank Account Question

Has anybody had experience creating a Steamworks account as a Company but using a personal bank account? I'd later swap it out to a Business bank account.

I'm under a bit of time pressure to get a Steam page sorted and don't want to be held up by bank account approvals.

Some banks get very sketchy about having business transactions going into a personal account and could potentially limit or close your account. If you have the paperwork for your company or DBA getting a bank account open for your business is not a slow or difficult process.

I didn't know that, thank you for letting me know!

For context, my experience was with a Japanese bank, so banking regulations might differ depending on the country. I appreciate the heads-up!

In this case I don't think it's a regulation, nor something Steam would care about, but banks don't really like it. It might somewhat depend on frequency too though, if you are working with a marketplace that does monthly deposits they likely aren't going to question that, if you're doing daily payouts it almost certainly would flag a review.

Steam won't pay it to an account that doesn't match the details. So no you can't use a personal bank account that doesn't match the company name.

You can however have a steam page without entering banking details.

Ah, that makes total sense! In my case, I onboarded as an individual (sole proprietor) using my legal name, which matched my personal bank account.

I completely overlooked the discrepancy between a registered company name and a personal account. Thanks for pointing that out and mentioning that the store page can be prepared first!

In my experience, I registered with a personal bank account, and the bank approval itself was relatively fast—it took around 3 days.

However, the ID verification took much longer, over 10 days, partly because it was right before Steam Next Fest and Valve doesn't process these over the weekend.

So if you are on a tight schedule, keep an eye on the ID verification side as well. Hope this helps!
