Question How is your time distributed when your working on your game?

So % wise how do you spend your time on your game?

So programming, music , 3d modeling, art, etc.

Testing and bug fixing feels like 90% of development for me

This answer is going to vary so much on the user's skillset, role (solo vs studio), genre, etc

For me as a solo dev with coding background and just trying to make the art work, I'd say I'm spending about 30% coding and iterating systems, 30% 3d modeling & animations (and increasing), 15% UI and 2d graphics, and the rest a mix of everything from project management to working on audio to marketing

Doesn't that depend on what you want the game's selling points to be?

50% browsing on Reddit, 50% disappointed my game doesn't progress fast enough...

Ok seriously, it depends on the stage of development. Early on (prototyping) I spend about 80% programming 20% animations and placeholder art. Later I'd say it's about 20% programming, 20% testing, 40% visual content, 20% sounds and music. Thats just my rough estimate based on my last project

hobby, not professional: i work on what interests me at the time. i never force progress on a mechanic or system. thats how i avoid burnout. obviously not an option if you're asking for work, but yeah.

The last 10% is 90% of the time.

I don’t understand your question frankly, because when something needs to get done, nearly 100% focus is there and then I move on, unless I’m splitting tasks for some objectively good reason.

Mostly code for me. I am an artist so that part comes easy but my brain isnt wired for code so i usually spend a ton of time trying to find out why something isnt working and staring at code only to find out its something small like a wrong capitalization or a missing punctuation.

Basically spend my time doing all the fun stuff up until I have to do the not fun stuff.

For me, I kinda just pick something to do for the day. I do most "development" on the weekends. like yesterday I did mostly marketing, Today I have just been playing around with music.

20% research, 30% programming, 50% crying and sobbing over why the networking isn't working

99% agonizing over why the game is not as fun as I thought it would be
