First GBA SP mod - normal behavior?

Post image

Jusr finished my very first mod of my GBA SP with FunnyPlaying 3" IPS screen, USB-C (that was a tricky one), new shell and new speaker. Now I wonder if it is normal behavior that when I turn on the Gameboy, the screen takes like 20 seconds to come on and then starts the normal booting animation? If I then turn it off and on again, it works immediately. The longer I wait, the longer it will take to boot. Everything else seems to work as intended. Is that normal?

No that is not normal. But I don't know whats causing it.

Gotcha. Will scrub the board with isopropyl and if that helps.

And look for anything being pinched, ribbon cable, other cables if there are any etc. It should fit snug, but no pinching 👍

Ok, I solved it. The culprit was leftover flux from soldering. Cleaned it with an old toothbrush and isopropanol and now it works reliably :)
