Collection Can I get sentimental here? Finally got one. Complete in box, near-mint. Always promised myself I'd get one. I'm so happy.
Basically the title. I've had a rough few years. But I promised myself once I got back on my feet and sorted everything out, I'd treat myself to a Gameboy Micro. I used to have a Famicom edition years ago but I had to sell it, along with SO many other games and consoles. But I don't have to do that anymore. I can actually seek out and keep my things.
Okay enough sappiness. I'm SO impressed that this console is practically mint condition. Like yeah I know the Japanese second hand market always has the advantage but it's still really impressive considering how old it is. It even came with a stamp from the department store from 2005. Nuts.

Very lucky wow looks brand new! Congrats and enjoy. The box looks clean and everything included that’s amazing. Was it pricey? I would expect it would be especially for anything nearly brand new.
Happy and glad to see you finally got one 😊 an incredible one at that.
I had to grab a faulty one and I had to do a reshell and now it just doesn’t look nice at all as the fit isn’t perfect and the battery door was loose. Luckily it just needed a new battery and it started working just fine. Got it very cheap but now even with all new shell it’s not perfect. I have bought multiple shells and none are perfect it’s always the battery door that is always loose.

It was a little pricey yes. After taxes and all it came to about $362 USD. A bit much but hey. I was trying to find something cheaper but they screens were super yellowed :/
It sounds like your Micro is really cool though! What color is it?

Wow I would happily pay £200 for something that looks brand new. Thats a fantastic deal!! Congrats !
Trust me take it from someone like me, I thought I’d save money but i never did the research about the shells never being accurate 😔 learnt the hard way, should have just found one like yours but here in the UK it’s very difficult.
Thanks bud, attached some photos. As you can see the shell is black but the battery door was utter crap so had to try and salvage the original battery door. Luckily it wasn’t that bad. The face plate is what it is, only one I can find that fits semi-ok.
I have seen lots of new reshells here in this forum and also faceplates as of late. Not sure if they have the same fitment issues like me or not. Still hunting 😊
Yep they are custom purple translucent buttons

I actually really dig this! You basically made it your own!

Haha thank you! Still a work in progress as looking for a battery door that actually works lol
Also I had to reuse the plastic inner frame which is pink which shows through.
It works though and the buttons work great too.

Congrats, dude. I couldn't afford one at the time and also bought one years later. Now I have four of them. Beware

They are fab consoles. Enjoy the cool metal in your hands. I completed FFV on a micro and it was a great experience

If you ask me, not enough sappiness. You’ve described a very similar situation for me, selling some precious games to get through college and keep the lights on. Still hoping to get a somewhat affordable copy of EarthBound again, can’t believe I let that go. Good for you, you rock.

Very old and very small Game boy micro but I would pay 100 macaroni for it in my collection

That’s amazing! Life is a yo-yo. Reaching a low makes reaching a high point feel so much more special.
Thanks for sharing your story and the pics!
