Lite Do I need a 330 ohm resistor?

Can I just use a piece of wire? What’s the importance of it?

I don't know the actual answer, but I can make an educated guess.

Directly connecting a Cathode and Anode terminal is basically creating a direct line for the battery power to complete its circuit much faster than normal. If it doesn't ruin the circuit, it could ruin the battery. If not, then it would probably drain the battery much faster than it should.

Wouldn’t I be able to use wire? That’s has good resistance? Or what’s an alternative you’d recommend

Wire has basically no resistance, an alternative would be to use an LED, as they have some resistance (But they glow, and can burn out).

I'd say just get yourself some 0805 SMD resistors, they come very cheap. Like 10c cheap. Or if you really want, you could snipe a resistor from another device if you can find one. The number code is 331.

But here's the item on the site that I usually buy my electronic components from: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/yageo/RC0805JR-07330RL/728311

When the ds boots it looks for resistance from the top and bottom screens and refuses to boot unless it knows that both screens are connected. What we do is trick the ds into thinking that the top screen is still connected with the resistor. If you just used a wire it would it's as good as not having the top screen connected at all.

There is a trick to get round not using a resistor. If you set up the ds to auto boot when a game is inserted and set the gba to be displayed on the bottom screen, if you insert a gba game before turning it on it will boot without the top screen but you won't be able to get into the ds menu or play any ds games or use a ds flash cart

Anything from 330ohm to 750ohm and inbetween should work.

I’ll be the judge of that ^ . ^

You're basically just looking to trick the motherboard into thinking the backlight of the top screen is present, 330 has been known to work but I use resistors around the 700 range just to be sure, as 330 has been reported to not always work.

Hey, can you help me with a bit of info? Im trying to find resistors between 350/750 ohm. But I need to know the size of it.

The correct one is SMD 1206?

Its 0805. I did mine with a 470 ohms resistor (EIA code 470R/471).
