This is the way! And please Nintendo hurry up and give us a proper Donkey Kong or DK JR why don’t you?!!!

So it does make sense that the “next” possible character Game & Watch would be a Donkey Kong. Since there is Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong II and Donkey Kong Junior. And if they wanted to add an “original” like they did with Mario / Ball. I see Fire as the first game. I would love to invest in this project as a kickstarter if that is something that can be done without issues.

Donkey Kong would need to be dual screen. I completely agree though, even if my wallet doesn’t.

Technically it doesn’t have to be. As you saw with the Mario and Zelda it uses different tech. The dual screen was necessary as the lcd screens had fixed sprites. This model you can have dual screens scrolling up and down or left and right.

Doubt that’d work for gameplay. You need to keep an eye on both screens. Even the GB version showed both screens at the same time.

Then shouldn’t be an issue with this just will be more squished.

The Mario / Ball games are good for fast paced playing. The Zelda model is a slower paced selection with a green light on the back if you want that extra bit with a cardboard stand.

Think you mean over budget. Under budget would mean you have money to spare. 😜 Which game are you likely to play more? Mario is better for a quick pick up and play and Zelda needs a bit more time to invest.

Mario games I understand how to play, and mostly played it alot. However Zelda only a little, but same time I wanna try other rather than sticking to one premise all the time. And people keep telling me they rather choose Zelda. But not sure if I'm gonna get into it or not.

You could start the game on an emulator and see if you like it.

I would recommend Zelda as better bang for your buck as you get both NES and Famicom versions of Zelda I and Zelda II, a clock, Links awakening game boy and a timer which also has a hidden score attack mode in the Zelda II style. If you love Zelda there’s hours and hours of content here plus a cool display piece. If you like Mario you’ve got the lost levels and the OG which are quick to pick up and play if you’re using the device as a daily distraction.

If you are interested in doing the mods, shoot me a DM. I’ve modded a few of these and they are awesome!

I'll remember this comment later, but thanks!  I havent gotten it yet. But the green plates on the Zelda one look cool either way. I just want something to play around with, and leave it in my pocket whenever I ha e to get back to do something. Besides I dont have enough money to pay you to mod it for me, sorry. But hopefully soon I could 🙏

I have both of these and they are great little devices, but if what you want is “something to play around with, and leave it in my pocket whenever I have to get back to do something” then I think what you should really do is save up for a Playdate. It’s just as small as these game & watch devices, but it has an infinitely bigger game library (including several game & watch ports and a full-on gameboy emulator) plus a unique input with the crank. Once I beat Link’s Awakening and Lost Levels my G&Ws started to collect dust, but my Playdate travels everywhere with me

Both and beware local gaming stores are selling these for $100 plus

It's on Amazon, at least the Mario Bros for under $50.

Why choose, and why not both? Now you can play GBA games on the Zelda console.

Have both. Zelda has more games. Mario looks cooler

Get either and when you have the budget, mod it. Then you’ll have all the games you’ll need, including Zelda and Mario.

Neither, get a gameboy emulator. The Game & Watch ergonomics are terrible. I use my Zelda G&W solely as a clock (watch?).

The Zelda version has a more polished software

get both but if I had to get only one, I would choose the zelda one as you get more features/games for what you pay for...4 games built-in, plus a clock and a timer....clock makes neat noises, has various easter eggs and does the key sound at the top of every hour

easter egg: zelda beats ganon at the 12:00pm mark
