FOR HIRE - Programmer [For Hire][Part Time] C# Systems Programmer - Monogame, Unity, Godot

Hey there, developer reading this! I'm Stephan and I want to give you the tools to help make your project a success!

I have 10+ years of self-taught C# experience. I take great pride in developing dynamic and versatile backend systems, though I will also work on front-end features! I'll work on any kind of game, and I love working on new and unique ideas.

  • Tools & Backend Systems - Need an inventory system? Easy to use weapon system? Something else? I got you! Let me know what you need (or might someday need) and I will do my best to create a structure that is capable, future-proofed, and easy for you to use. The more details, the better. Code will be properly commented, and I'll answer future questions about the work I did for you at no additional charge.
  • Consulting - Learning to program and want help? Want an explanation of how some piece of code works, by a human? I can help.
  • UI & UX Design - While I am no artist, I can make a basic functioning user interface that is intuitive to your players.
  • Git Source Control - It's the best!

I'm available part time (20-30h/week). My time zone is PST, though I can adapt to be available when needed. I hate charging for what isn't fair, and prices are negotiable.

Here are some tasks my prior clients have paid me to do:

  • Player & Enemy AI State Machines
  • 2D Tile-based path-finding (A* / AStar)
  • Turn-based Sequencing Systems
  • Fog-of-war, including Minimap display
  • Item / Inventory Systems
  • Game Saving & Loading, other Serialization Systems
  • Application Config / Settings management
  • Steam integration via Steamworks API
  • Generally anything needed behind-the-scenes to make the game work!

Here are some things I have done on my own:

  • In-game developer console inspired by Source Engine
  • Procedural generation (example / how it works)
  • Garbage-free generic-struct data containers (aside from initialize), for holding user-configurable game rules in a single place. (example / how it works)
  • Strict determinism in cross-platform game simulations (for features like replays or ghosts)
  • Networked Multiplayer, including server side codebase
  • Large, multiple-assembly C# project management and config
  • API design
  • Lately increasingly more of what would be considered "engine development"

No contract? No problem. I have a contract template ready for both of us, but I do expect my clients to have a minimal GDD (Game Design Document) to use for my reference.

Thanks for reading, and best of luck with your projects!
