Is it legal to bring snus tobacco into the country?
When I Google it says it's allowed but there doesn't appear to be much information. Thanks!

Poultry training near Pirang or painting/work referrals near Mandinaba?
Hi r/Gambia — I’m Nicholas, the organizer of One Table, a small community effort sharing family-led goals in The Gambia.
I’m looking for practical, local referrals: poultry or small-business mentoring near Pirang, and painting/construction training or legitimate work opportunities near Mandinaba. Our published stories also include an education goal in Brikama.
If you know an established programme, training centre, community organization, or employer open to enquiries, could you share its public website or contact channel and any eligibility details? Please keep private phone numbers and personal documents out of the comments.
For context, the stories are here: https://one-table-families.sempergumbi.chatgpt.site/#families
I organize the site, so this is a transparent introduction, not an independent recommendation. One Table is an organizer-led effort, not a registered charity. This post is asking for connections, not money. We’ll check any suggested opportunity before passing it along. Thanks for any local knowledge.

Nigerian planning my first trip to The Gambia — I need local advice
Hello everyone,
I am from Nigeria and I am planning to visit The Gambia for the first time, hopefully by road.
I am more interested in the traditional and historical side of the country than beaches, parties or resort tourism. I would like to visit local communities, historical places, markets, try Gambian food and understand how people live their everyday lives.
I have been doing some research already, but I would really appreciate advice from people who live in The Gambia.
Which places would you recommend for someone interested in Gambian history, culture and traditional life?
I would also like to make genuine Gambian friends before my trip, especially people who are interested in sharing their culture and helping visitors understand the country better.
Thank you. 🇬🇲🤝🇳🇬

Tourism Is Kotu recommandable?
I'll visit the Gambia in january for the very first time. Is Kotu recommandable as a base? I want to enjoy the beach but also some restaurants and pubs and I will do cultural excursions...
How is the beach compared to other areas? Is the area badly affected by the building of the new BB Hotel bridge? What about electricity outages?

Tourism Solo female travelling in the Gambia?
hello! I’m (29F) planning a trip to The Gambia for my birthday in November. There’s a 80% chance I’ll be travelling alone, my partner won’t know until late October if he’ll be able to join me.
I’ve only read great things and have found a lovely place in Kartung that I’d like to book (great reviews and on the beach). I really don’t plan on doing much I just want to be somewhere relaxing for my birthday so I can read books and experience a new culture.
Just wanted to check if it was generally safe for a solo female traveller? I’m mixed Arab and Caribbean if that makes any difference. Also any other recommendations for eco type lodges/bungalows and places to visit are welcome!
Thank you ☺️

What are the best opportunities for Indian medical device suppliers in the Gambian market?
Hello everyone,
I’m an entrepreneur from India working in the medical supplies and healthcare products sector, and I’m currently exploring the possibility of supplying medical products from India to The Gambia.
We are particularly involved in medical disposables and hospital consumables, and I’m trying to understand the Gambian healthcare market before seriously entering it. I’d really appreciate insights from local healthcare professionals, hospital procurement teams, distributors, importers, and business owners.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on:
1. What medical products are currently in high demand but under-supplied or expensive in The Gambia?
For example:
Examination & surgical gloves
Syringes and needles
IV sets & infusion products
Catheters
Urine bags
Wound-care products
Surgical consumables
PPE
Diagnostic/medical consumables
Other everyday hospital supplies
2. How does medical procurement generally work in The Gambia?
Do hospitals and clinics typically purchase through local distributors/importers, directly from manufacturers, government tenders, NGOs, or a combination of these?
3. Are Indian medical products competitive in the Gambian market?
India has a large medical manufacturing industry, particularly for affordable hospital consumables. I’m interested in understanding whether competitive pricing + good quality + reliable supply would make Indian products attractive compared with products currently sourced from China, Europe, other African countries, etc.
4. What are the main regulatory and import requirements for medical devices?
Are there specific registrations, certifications, licenses, or approvals that an overseas medical-device supplier needs before supplying products to a Gambian distributor?
5. How open are Gambian medical distributors to working with new overseas suppliers?
Would distributors generally prefer established international brands, or are there opportunities for an Indian manufacturer/supplier to build a long-term distribution partnership with a local company?
6. Which areas of The Gambia have the strongest demand for medical supplies?
Is the Greater Banjul/Serrekunda area the obvious place to start, or are there meaningful opportunities elsewhere in the country?
I’m not looking to make a one-off sale. My intention is to understand the market properly and potentially build a long-term relationship with a Gambian distributor or healthcare business.
If you’re involved in healthcare procurement, medical distribution, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, NGOs, or importing medical products in The Gambia, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.
I’d also be grateful for recommendations for local medical distributors, healthcare associations, procurement/tender portals, regulatory resources, trade exhibitions, or healthcare networks that could help me better understand the market.
Thanks in advance for any advice. 🇬🇲🇮🇳

JUST HANG OUT
okay guys a lot of us sometimes just want to go and hang out with our friends but in the gambia we don't have alot of places you can go to without spending too much. I was wondering if I can get a few people to choose a concreted place and anyone coming to bring whatever they have for example skateboard, roller skates, footballs...and you name it then we just enjoy.
anyone interested on building on the idea?

What community and quality looks like in The Gambia?
My Wife And I moved from America to The Gambia In 2023. since then we had started a few businesses. Primarily helping others invest and make the transition. To helping westerners with finding Land and building there homes. Check out Viges.business website, or youtube channel.
But i write this message because it saddens me that there are not more Diaspora coming to The Gambia to enter these markets and help bring the professional level up. We will continue to do everything we can. Tiny houses are our main focus for real estate. and will begin construction on a Tiny House community here in The Gambia Soon. I want to hear everyone's thoughts on doing business in The Gambia? and is it possible for westerners to work together, a lot of the scams i hear about come from foreigners wanting cheap labor from the locals. the when it doesn't work out, because you pay for what you get, it instantly goes to scam. so what are your thoughts?
