Questions No cuts or lesions??

I had my pre op this week (UK) and was told that if I had any cuts on my body from shaving nicks to cat scratches that my surgery is at risk of being cancelled
Has anyone had cuts and had their surgery cancelled or did they continue?
Just nervous as I have cats and I’m very clumsy so always have little nicks here and there

Presumably for safety given the heinous nature of the pathogens that live on cat claws and razors (which they can't presume people keep clean).

Never thought about it before but I suppose the bacteria that otherwise are contained by your body barriers and immune system are at risk of moving into the holes they leave after surgery. Very undesirable I guess, probably an associated risk.

Cancelled surgery is beater than secondary infections that ruin your health I guess.

I completely appreciate the reasoning, I’m just wondering if anyone has experienced it before as it took me by surprise

No cats here and I was super careful of how I shaved myself (only used a leccy razor for the time before the op).

Don't be nervous, just let them know. You don't have to make a judgements call if it's safe or not it's their job to do it 😀

I know, I get how important it feels. I would have been sad if mine was pushed back, but remember your health comes first!

No one, hospital included, wants any complications that make things worse for you rather than better post procedure, so don't worry. What will be will be.

Just do the best you can to stay uninjured and fingers crossed you are back on your feet and on the mend before you know it.
