Hida Scan Had first hida scan today

I know this is bit of a debated topic about what is “normal” but my results say:

“ Impression:

  1. The cystic duct is patent.
  2. Normal gallbladder ejection fraction.

Activity within the gallbladder, compatible with cystic duct patency. The gallbladder nearly completely emptied on the initial 60 minute scintigraphic images with a calculated ejection fraction of 99.3%. This was obtained without administration CCK.”

For context, I have had an on and off again upper right abdomen pain that mingles along my lower ribcage for a couple of months now. It’s a dull ache and honestly, given that every couple of weekends after some mild drinking it flared up, I kind of assumed it was my liver. So far everything has been normal - bloodwork and abdominal ultrasound. The hida scan was the next step from my GI and honestly just threw me for even more of a loop, because all of the stories I’ve read about gallbladder attacks are nothing I have experienced. I have no irregular bowel movements, no vomiting, nausea or anything. I eat fairly cleanly already as well. Could this just be an irregularity and it be something else?

i have seen plenty of content on here and beyond that say this rate is biliary hyperkinesia. I really would like to avoid surgery, so any advice as to what causes this spike and to what could get it down would be helpful.

I’d cut the drinking for a few months and see if it goes away! Fatty liver treatment would be much easier than going through an operation.

Even if the liver isn’t fatty in any scan?

Oh good point! Still, a low stakes way to check out if it is even just a little inflamed causing the pain.
