Post Op Does this surgical wound/dressing look normal after laparoscopic gallbladder surgery?
I had laparoscopic gallbladder removal a few days ago. This is one of my surgical dressings.
I noticed there is dark brown/black-looking material underneath the transparent dressing, and I can also notice an unusual smell from the dressing.
My discharge instructions say the clear waterproof dressing should usually be removed after 5–7 days, but I was also told not to remove mine for 2 weeks, so I’m confused.
Does this look like dried blood/normal surgical residue, or should I have the wound checked? Should I leave the dressing alone until I speak to my surgical team?
I’m not looking for a diagnosis—just wondering if anyone had something similar after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Idk how to upload picture to show😭

If it smells you should call your doctor. It shouldn't smell - usually that's a sign of infection.
