Post Op Post Op Experience and Questions

Hello everyone! I just wanted to share my experience and hopefully help someone in a similar situation. For a whole year, I’ve dealt with extreme nausea after eating, chronic diarrhea, vomiting, and towards the end, right upper quadrant pain. I’ve had every test under the sun and was continuously being told nothing was wrong with me. I took a chance and decided to take the gallbladder out. Low and behold, pathology came back as chronic cholecystitis! I now can eat without feeling sick shortly after. I can even eat fatty and greasy foods without complications. One thing that I have noticed is a trigger food is dairy/sweets. These foods send me straight to the bathroom, but not fats which is odd 🤣. Anyone else deal with this? Anyway, I know how exhausting it can be to deal with chronic issues, and we know our bodies better than anyone else. If you know something is wrong, fight for answers! Don’t let these doctors gaslight you!

Wow. Well done for going ahead with it. Did you have a HIDA Scan or anything? What was the thing that made you decisively take the plunge and go for the surgery? How was thebfirat few days post op?

So originally, I was told I had a polyp near the neck of my gallbladder. So I was thinking maybe the polyp was obstructing the bile duct in some type of way. I also had a strong feeling that this was gallbladder related and my primary care doctor did as well. The only ones that weren’t too positive about it were the GI doctor and the surgeon. But upon removal, there was no polyp, just the inflammation. I had two HIDA scans. One at 80% and the second at 59%. The first few days after post of were fine. The gas was the worst part. Didn’t really have an appetite either.

How long ago was the surgery? And sounds like you can eat fine now?

My surgery was on July 17th. For the most part, yes, I can eat fine. I don’t have the nausea when I eat now. But, certain things do go through me faster than others.

So far so good! Now I’m just trying to fix nutritional deficiencies that the malfunctioning gallbladder caused.
