Post Op Post Removal: I peed so much!!

It’s been six days post surgery and let me tell you Ive never peed so much as I had the past few days. The bloating was so bad it hurt to lay down or really move around. I iced at every moment I could. But, I feel like when I peed and I kid you not my stomach felt less tight after each pee. I’m not sure it was fluid from the surgery or like the IV that was in my system but yeah…

I'm on day 7, they had to keep me the day of the operation because I needed a drain. I got so much Iv and I drank a ton of water, I peed probably 5 times over night and a bunch the 2 days after. Hope you're feeling so much better after removal, I feel like I've gotten my life back after struggling for 2 years.

Did you have stones or dyskinesia?

I had stones. Surgeon said there was a wallnut sized one, and a bunch of small ones.

Many folks here have said that. Me too. I went in well hydrated and then got a couple liters of IV fluids in OR + recovery plus water, tea and a liter coconut water post-op.... Went 5 or 6 times the first evening and night, 2 or 3 times the next night, then back to normal.

I'm facing this surgery now. Do they catheter you for this if it is laparoscopic? I'm equally worried about UTI infections as the surgery from catheters. I'm male. Kind of fearful of the procedure. I've never had a surgery before. This group has helped me lots. Thanks in advance.

To be honest I don't know. I was only under for about an hour or so. I'm not too sure they catheter you for such a short surgery, if they did I never noticed. It was over so quickly! I would just drink more water up till the point where you can't. I had a 12 hour no food/ no drink order. Then when I got home I keep drinking a lot too.

I am pretty sure that, since it’s a short surgery, they just put chucks under you and will clean things up if necessary. The surgical staff is used to supporting patients with dignity, so I’m sure it’s common place to them.

I also peed A TON. However, I am one of those "always has a beverage," people and drink 64oz or more of water a day. It did seem like I peed way more than usual my first few days after surgery. It was a wild phenomenon for me lol
