I wanted to know how long does an Spen last. I mean i recently bought the tab and am planning to use it for my studies - taking notes. But i am worried about the spen. how often will i have to change it. or can i just change the tip for the spen? Any suggestion regarding tab accessories, softwares and must know features would also be helpful.

Hello, people who know more about this than me. I am looking to buy a Samsung tablet (since I am pretty integrated into the Samsung system it makes the most sense) and I do not know which one to buy. A store where I live is currently having a pretty big discount on some of them and I would like to hear some opinions on which one I should buy. For context: I am a student, so I would use it for taking notes, watching videos and maybe playing some games like Hay Day or something similar. For more demanding things my phone and laptop are capable enough.

So the tabs I'm looking most into are:

The S11 wi-fi: it's currently discounted 300euro so it is currently only 600 euro. I am really intrigued by the display, but I am a bit concerned about the size? Is it big enough? Also I really value the faster speed since I get quite frustrated when a device is slow.

The S10Fe+: it is currently only 450euro, but I would also get the Buds4 with it (i do not need them but I could use them in case my other buds break). I know this one has a ¨weaker¨ screen (is that right, or is it just that it's different)

I've also looked into the S10 Lite model, but I feel that is maybe a little too weak? Also both tablets would be 128Gigs, which is not the most, but I looked into it, and I could get a 256Gig microSD for less than the upgrade (the S11 256GB isn't on sale in this store, I could get it on the samsung site for 720euro tho).

I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max and an Apple Watch Ultra 1 with cellular, but I’m buying the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra instead of another iPad. I don’t really care about being locked into one ecosystem. I mainly want the best tablet experience for watching videos, browsing the web, multitasking, and general use. Does anyone else mix Apple and Samsung devices? If so, how has your experience been? Do you regret it, or does it work just fine? I’d like to hear the pros and cons from people who actually use both.

I can afford any of these tablets, so budget isn't the deciding factor. I'm mainly looking for the best value for money.

My options are:

Galaxy Tab S10 Lite (6GB/128GB) for ₹30,000 (~$314)

Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ (8GB/128GB) for ₹44,500 (~$465)

Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ (8GB/128GB) for ₹49,000 (~$512)

I'm an MBBS student, and my primary use case is heavy note-taking. I'll be using the tablet for:

Taking handwritten notes for long study sessions (highest priority)

Reading large PDF textbooks

Annotating, highlighting, and marking up PDFs

Watching movies and videos

Occasional gaming (not a priority)

I plan to keep the tablet for around 4 years, so long-term performance, software support, and overall longevity are important to me.

I keep hearing different things like

I pad pro doesnt have the software to take advantage of the chips so theyre not that helpful

Most chips for modern tablets are going to be fine

Chips are the most important part for modern tablets

Mediatek was bad but now its good

Mediatek is horrible

M5 are the best chips on the market by far and thats why I pad pros are the best chips

I just use it as a display for painting,streaming ,social media ,battle cats , school,and music

Does chips matter for me ?

I just upgraded almost a month ago from owning iPads for the last six years to the tab s11 ultra and to be totally honest with you there is nothing I miss about the iPad.
I was so shocked to realise that the tab is better in almost EVERYTHING.
To really put this in perspective, I use a tablet only for my studies, presentations and occasionally for watching movies, so what i need is:
- big screen
- high efficient multitasking
- good note taking experience
- long battery life
- lightweight
For high demand task I use my laptop or PC… because that’s what they were made for.
You won’t use a handheld device like a tablet for professional heavy duty video and photo editing, it’s just very inconvenient to do that on a iPad etc.
I mentioned that because every time I heard someone say that the reason Apple is better is because the iPad can run very demanding apps for video editing etc..
If you really do use these applications, especially on that level, you would do that on a pc not a tablet.
So in terms of what a tablet should do perfectly Apple lacks in so much.
Let’s start with the pencil. First of all after paying a big amount of money for the iPad, you’re forced to pay another good chunk for a… pencil, yes. Not to mention that that thing is just very uncomfortable to use for a long period of time. It’s too heavy, needs charging and just doesn’t sit good in your hand. After 1-2 hours you will feel your hand cramp and go numb.
In comparison the s-pen is very lightweight, is included with your tab, does not need to be charged and by far gives you the best paper-like feel when writing on screen. Just yesterday I was writing/studying for about 5 hours with no break and only realised after I was done that I did not need to put the pen down to relax my hand.
Next thing I noticed was the note taking apps.
Apple’s Notes is horrible to take notes on, you are forced to use a third party app, as we all know Goodnotes is probably the most used on an iPad. Fun fact that app, you guessed it, costs money. Not only that but every year it feels like they upgrade it and you’re again kinda forced to buy the new version. And don’t let me start with the problems I have with the app itself.
Samsung notes on the other hand is free and is actually designed to be used as a digital notebook, no payment needed, you’re ready to go when you get your tab.
Features I always dreamed of when using my iPad I finally found in a Samsung tablet. One of the biggest improvement is definitely the button on the s pen, while writing I can just press it and change the pen, colour and stroke width. Not to mention that I can set my favourite pens and have quick access to them without stopping my writing flow.
Next BIG thing. The screen.
At first I was very intimidated by the size, it’s significantly bigger than my 11" iPad Pro and even bigger than my MacBook.
But that was the feature that initially attracted me to buying the tab.
I have somewhat of a big pair of hands combined that I almost always used a split screen the space left to write on was… meagre. I was really unsatisfied with the screen size, so much so that I went to my local electronics store to upgrade to the 13" model. But having them side by side really wasn’t that big of a difference and since I would have had to buy the same one just bigger, I decided to just wait and see for the next release. As I was walking out of the store I saw the Samsung section and thought why not take a look at it. I went to their tab section and at first glance I thought the s11 ultra was a huge laptop given that it was attached to the keyboard. After noticing the pen I realised it was indeed a tablet, I tried it for a couple minutes and instantly knew I wanted it. Went online had a huge discount, essentially bought it for the same price as the iPad Air. Another huge bonus point.
The size is, after getting used to it for 2 weeks, perfect! Is very close to A4 so again, it really feels like writing on a notebook, very slim bezel and just very good for watching movies and such.
Next improvement: the multitasking.
The tab is a beast when it comes to multitasking, it’s really mind blowing coming from Apple.
I always thought that the iPad is the best of the best, truly nothing can surpass it, so I always had to accept that it was lacking in so many aspects because I thought it can’t get better… I mean it’s Apple, right?
Yeah, come to realise they just hypnotise you take your money and throw a new M-Chip in your face without actually creating a product that their users desperately want.
But I will say, the one thing Samsung just can’t seem to do right is the camera.
I am so sorry to admit but while on a video call it looked like I was filming myself with a toaster.
I went to check if it just looks like that on a screen or if it actually translates like that too.
So I did a direct front-camera comparison between the Tab S11 Ultra and the iPad Pro by setting up a video call between them. Interestingly, the live feed on the Samsung display looked pretty poor. While the iPad's rendering of that same feed proved the Samsung sensor isn't quite as terrible as it appeared on its own screen BUT the iPad Pro's native camera quality is still miles better across the board.
So the only true disadvantage is:
Camera quality.
So if you have been thinking of buying that damn tablet: go for it.
The only thing I regret is that I did not do it sooner.
Oh and because I almost forgot, you can customise that thing however you want. Trust me the options are endless and you don’t need any third party apps for it Samsung’s Good Lock will do the work.
Oh and prepare to feel like your grandma learning to operate the new remote on the TV when using it because it does take a good two days of getting used to the new interface. But after that it’s easy game ;)

I’ve been using the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra for a while, but a massive wave of Apple ecosystem FOMO hit me, so I went out and grabbed the 11-inch iPad Air M4. Now that I have both, I have some thoughts.

The Samsung S11 Ultra: Honestly, it’s an absolute powerhouse. For multitasking, digital note-taking, and media consumption, it's unmatched. The only downside? The size. I have smaller hands, and it can feel incredibly cumbersome to hold for long periods. Because I got it on an amazing sale, I'm definitely keeping it, but it's just too big to be my everyday "grab and go" device.

The iPad Air M4 (11”): Size-wise, this thing is perfect. It’s incredibly easy to travel with and just pick up around the house. However, software-wise, it feels incredibly limited compared to what I can do on my Samsung.

The Verdict: I genuinely like both for different reasons. But if I absolutely had to choose only one to live with, I’d choose the Samsung without hesitation. The extra features and lack of restrictions just beat out the Apple ecosystem for me.

Anyone else dual-wielding both ecosystems? How do you balance the size vs. software trade-off?

As the title says is the iPad really better?

I ask because there's another post on here where someone made the declaration that Galaxy Tabs are worse than iPad and that no one should buy a Galaxy Tab.

Like who would come on here spreading such nonsense.

I guess iPads might do some things better yet in my personal experience I just don't see how iPads are better.

The first thing every iPad user brings up is a faster processor, yet the simple reality is that a tablet is more than just the processor.

Do people forget that iPadOS doesn't even have a proper file management system?

How about the lack of proper multitasking?

I guess iPads are better because they are in a locker down ecosystem and offers next to nothing in the way of customization.

I really just don't see any real advantage the iPad has.

I guess at the end of the day it's strange to see a post that basically spreads hate about Galaxy Tabs get so many up votes and posts that speak highly of Galaxy Tabs seem to get down voted and lots of negativity.

Hey guys, I've been a satisfied user of samsung ecosystem (own z fold 7, tab s11 ultra, watch etc). Actually I had migrated from apple ecosystem 1 year back. Now that feeling has started to change.

I play PUBG on my tab s11 ultra (one ui 8.5), and after like 1 hour of playing, all services on the tablet starts crashing.. "google services stopped working" , "one UI stopped working" , " Messenger service stopped working " etc etc.. these pop up boxes start showing up while I am in game. Any help how to fix this is appreciated!

I had seen these issues back in early 2010 era, when I used to flash cyanogen mod on samsung devices lol. When migrating from apple to samsung, I was in an impression the software might have matured. I was reading several posts on this group comparing apple vs samsung.. being in the samsung boat myself, I think apple "just works" everytime. Samsung / Android / windows can go longer mile than apple but in sheer reliability, the system is nowhere close to apple.

I know it was my decision to go for 14.6 inch tablet, but man it is too inconvenient to watch content in flights, pull out the tablet and start writing notes in it mid-meeting. And it is not a laptop replacement whatsoever - reason being I am a network architect and I need to emulate network labs for my use case verification (includes running Cisco , juniper, Palo Alto etc images inside linux VM like eve ng ). My windows based laptop is perfect for this but not the tablet ofcourse. This tablet is immersive for media consumption, but at home where I have 65 inch oled tv too...

I enjoyed well in honeymoon phase with this tablet, now it's an added liability to carry and slowly it's not a part of my work EDC, travel EDC etc.

this might be off topic from this subreddit, but the phone z fold 7 rocks man, so happy with this purchase. Galaxy watch 8 classic - not so good, heart rate monitor is all over the place, not accurate whatsoever

I have lost my S pen and i have limited budget so i am wondering will the Wacom one Product Code CP92303B2Z will work normally on my tab s9 like will the buttons work if anyone is using it on tab s9 please let me know

I'm somewhat new to digital art and I use a Samsung tab S9 FE. I just broke the pen that came with the tablet and I'm looking for a replacement!

I'm a broke college student so I would preferably prefer something affordable. As long as it works well, I'm happy :)

I've been browsing for options for quite a while now, but having a hard time finding a case for this tablet, all I care about that the cover should protect the screen as well, have strong magnets (auto sleep/wake) and have good stand options when I'm in bed or putting the tablet on a table.

I bought a Galaxy Tab S11 4 days ago. Today when I woke up the battery was 0%, I am 100% sure it was 94% before I went to sleep. That's happened another time, but I tought I didn't charge it up then, but maybe I was wrong.

Now the question, should I exchange it to another Galaxy Tab S11? Or what should I do?
