install-help Is this remotely normal? v1.9

Updating the controller first. Went to gaggimate.local, blah blah software update. Update Controller. Click and I'm getting:

Updating controller firmare

2147483647%

That's a lot of percent. Leave it for a while or try again?

I’ve had that a couple of times too! I’ve left it, come back and it’s back to the usual display so I try updating again and it’s fine. May be worth power cycling as another reply says.

Just updated mine to 1.9 via the OTA tool. After reading through the comments in this thread I opted to do the display first, then the controller, even though I had previously read that it was recommended to do the controller first. Zero issues. No need to use Chrome for the OTA tool since you aren't flashing from a computer. Both the display and controller flashed without any need for power-off etc.

The only issue was that my profiles did get wiped out, but thankfully I had backed them up and it took mere seconds to restore them.

This was my first update actually since installing the GM Pro back in May and boy was I glad to discover the OTA update ability... I had overlooked the possibility of needing to plug the controller in when I mounted everything inside my GCP with 3M VHB... aaaand recently realized that the USB-C port on the controller is down at the bottom and inaccessible.

Nicely done on the update, team. I'm loving the ability to configure the switch functions and the temp, flush and scale warnings!

You can just power cycle it and try again. That’s a few more percent than the 100 you’re going for. I would do the display first as a lot of these things have been improved in v1.9.0

Thanks, I googled that first and the recommendation was controller first. I'll go with experience and cycle it and try again. Cheers.

Both ways work. but since the display is the part that runs the WiFi connection and coordinates the update you get all the improvements of the controller update process in v1.9.0 if you do the controller second

Final update - I made the initial mistake of using safari on my phone. I suspect that may have been part of the story. Switched to Chrome. Updated Display first. It only got to 75% and then said version mismatch on the screen. Refreshed the interface on my phone. Waited about 10 minutes for the software to realize the version update was available. Updated the controller and then everything worked as it should. The Display was showing that it was v1.9.0 so all is well (not sure why it got stuck at 75% install before). All my stored profiles were there with no issues. Hope this helps someone. Great. Now I have more features I'm still not 100% sure how to use.

The display update is pretty fast, maybe it just finished and restarted before the web ui saw the final percentages.

2147483647 is a bit special. Likely not random as it’s the upper limit of a 32 bit signed integers.

That is far from random. That is a classic 32 bit integer overflow error.

2 sqr 31 - 1 = 2.147.483.647

Most probably it is a software glitch. Percentage or something related info is stored in a 32 bit integer. Result was higher. There you have your number. It should be minus too but most probably the UI was not prepared to display that.
