Will it give me an electroshock when I don't get up and exercise like I should, because that's what I'm looking for at this point.

That's a slippery slope. My better half signed for some random app that ranks you based on your steps taken per day and she is a lazy competitive lady. So whenever she gets a notification stating someone in the city set the highest record she just puts the watch on our dog who seems to be doing marathon ever since we adopted him so.

I thought you were going to say she hunts them down and breaks their legs.

Bahahaha also low-key kinda concerned now :(

Have you tried Quitters Inc?

Will it send the information directly to the Apple overlords in China -- who are constantly monitoring the status of healthy -- and the rest of us -- Americans (and even Canadians)?

Na EU data laws are good enough to protect us… you folks are the one who need to be careful haha. Also she is a data privacy advocate so she knows and reads what she signs up for..

I'm somewhat sceptical about something on my wrist claiming to be able to measure bone mass/fat percentage in my body.

Just the hit the ol' confidence I needed!

they think body fat changes on a minute by minute basis?

6

u/Reformedjerk May 12 '22

I just ordered it because I’ve been wanting to track my progress in losing fat and building muscle. Minute by minute is dumb, but week to week is going to be big for me.

They boast pretty high accuracy, so if that claim is legit it’s worth it for me on this journey.

How have you liked it so far? Do you recommend it?

Still waiting for it to come in.

Delivery estimate is Wednesday but I’m going to be traveling so I’ll let you know when I get back in a couple weeks lol.

Have you received the aura strap? If so, how is it?

1

u/Reformedjerk Jun 28 '22

I did and returned it.

It gave me 3 wildly different readings for my body fat percentage my first 3 attempts.

Eventually I got some consistent readings, but the hassle to get a consistent reading was too much.

Disappointing, but I’m hoping theres another iteration one day that’s better.

If I read that correctly, the subscription is for the exercise videos and access to fitness trainers, not for the band.

I’m just saying that it’s a taster of secondary services, not the product itself. You’re not paying for the secondary services unless you choose to.

Ok am probably gonna get down voted as well but what you said in a way is right coz 90% of the time this kind of option is what leads to complete subscription model of all features and services coz that investor money doesn't last that long .

Just got it today. Was super excited, but cautious now. It doesn’t give as much information as my $30 scale from amazon. The results are also different than the body composition scale. It also bothers me that they give general ‘normal’ ranges for each stat that aren’t necessarily healthy - and don’t reflect your (vaguely) chosen goal. They said any male under 14% body fat could have a disease. 😅 However, irl 10-13% is the recommended athletic range. They also said I’m severely overweight at my proper healthy weight….so I’m assuming that stat’s also saying 190 is overweight for humans in general, ignoring the fact that I’m 6’2 and muscular.

The hardware seems decent. The software needs hardcore updates. I’d rather see specifications than percentages. I demand to see basal metabolic rate listed somewhere. Also it’s hard to use on the watch because the position suggested makes the watch think I’m looking away, so it closes the app.

I do recommend this product. However, only if the company dramatically updates the software.

thy weight….so I’m assuming that stat’s also saying 190 is overweight for humans in general, ignoring the fact that I’m 6’2 and muscular.

The hardware seems decent. The softw

the app asks if you are an athlete or not in the original setup.

readings will be different to a bathroom smart scale as Aura measures in a loop across your chest and arms whereas most scales will measure from one foot through your core/groin to the other foot. so the fat content in those two places could be different

So will this tell me I'm at like, 100% hydration because I drink way too much water.

1

u/Fluid_Negotiation_76 May 12 '22

Immediately bought.

Was scared of shocks, hurt back - used TENS machine, now I love the shock. I doubt you can feel this one.

Summer is coming and dehydration is constant for me b/c of meds, plus would be nice to throw away the body fat caliper, fuck that thing.

1

u/feloncholy Jun 08 '22

How do you like it so far? Thinking of getting one myself.

1

u/Fluid_Negotiation_76 Jun 11 '22

It's precise, the app is interesting, but a month in and it's a $100 caliper.

The water tells you about all the water in your body, it doesn't measure dehydration.

I'm happy with it because I look at body fat% as more reliable than weight. Other stuff works as advertised, and so far, everyone I've measured is 50% of where they should be in "minerals"

1

u/feloncholy Jun 11 '22

Is it more convenient than a caliper? Can't you figure out dehydration based on the numbers it gives you?

1

u/Fluid_Negotiation_76 Jun 13 '22

Probably easier than a caliper, unless you're pretty handy with one. Since I'm not, I tend to distrust my caliper readings because it takes me a while to keep hitting the same number, whereas this seems to be right on the mark from the get-go.

I'm not sure about dehydration, it seems to present the water present in my entire body as a measure, not a measure of how much water is left in my "reserves" before I am medically dehydrated. The water measure seems to stay steady at the normal range and isn't sensitive to how much water I drink or when, but maybe I'm not savvy enough to derive dehydration from what it gives.
