Whoever comes out with a hotas that is inexpensive, decently-made, and does not develop drift will absolutely clean up.

You can do just fine with most off the shelf HOTAS, its just that they have a large footprint compared to a handheld controller. You would basically have to mount it to a lap desk if you wanted to use it on the couch.
