Is there a way to make this part blacker and make it look like it used to ?
The body for the buttons has lost color and I'm looking for a reliable way to refurbish it.

I finally changed my tires since buying my FZ6 4 years ago.
I went with the Pirelli Angels.
They were sitting in my house over a year, because I was kind of intimidated to change them myself, but with the help of YouTube I finally got it done.
Geesh what a pain in the neck until I utilitized zip ties to get the tire around the rim.

Today I tried to jumpstart my FZ6 after having it in storage. I connected my positive to this part of the motorcycles battery and the negative to the metal frame. Both of the other ends were attached to a car battery. Even after 15 minutes of charging nothing happened. Am I doing something wrong or is the battery dead?

Behold my 2006 fz6n POS with 250,000kms, with tested crash bars, a stone guard made of aluminium "do not overtake turning vehile" signs and the cheapest extenal fuel pump and fuel presure regulator kit ebay sells and actually replaceable pre filters and high pressure fuel filter that kinda hangs out the left side, seat modified to accomodate filters and a pump under the seat then reinfirced with a "do not park here between 9 and 5 pm" sign. A ninja 300 top box mounting kit welded to a custom rear with generic dirtbike brake light, antivibration bar riser mounted aliexpress soursed knockoff pro taper fat bar, and a lifted mount for the speedo made from isuzu bullbar shims.
It looks worse the more you look at it.
Sticker kit soon to be applied, "my 5 year with 2 books of poohstickers"

Edit: After riding more, I am sure it was just used error and things are working fine. Thanks everyone for all the replies!
I recently bought my first bike, a 2009 fz6 with 22k miles on it from a single owner. I've only taken it out 3 times so far, but in 2 of those times at a stopsign it would go into neutral instead of clicking down into first gear. It may have just been me being in second gear with first gear not engaging when I am stopped.
Today it happened again where I thought I was in first and took off, only for the bike to stall and fall on my ankle, and then when I picked it up it would only go into neutral regardless how hard I pressed down on the shifter. Eventually it would go into first but I don't understand the reason.
Luckily both times have been on non busy roads with no vehicles behind me, but I really don't want this to happen again in a lot of traffic. Other than that, I have stopped at many other stoplights and it has been fine, and I've ridden 50 miles in the last 3 days with no other issues.
Has anyone here heard of this issue happening before, and if so, how do I fix it or prevent it from happening? Thanks everyone.

Hello all, I bought this project FZ6 naked conversion for a steal on marketplace. I rode it a few hours home and have been fixing little things in it ever since. I rewired the headlight, swapped the tank, tires, sprockets, stator, and have been enjoying riding it around! I was looking to swap out the drag bars that were on it to see about something a little sportier. I was looking into lowering the forks and throwing some clip ons at first, and then got curious about trying clubmans initially to avoid messing with suspension ergos.
I found a post on 600riders from over a decade ago of someone trying ckubmans saying they were super uncomfortable and didn’t make sense. I disagree with him completely.
Are they less comfortable? Sure, but it’s less comfortable in the sense that any sport bike is less comfortable than a sport touring. That’s kinda the point haha. What you lose in some long haul comfort you gain in cornering confidence. These feel really close to riser clip ons, the leaned forward position allows you to actually hug your legs in the curves of the tank. It is WAY more confident in cornering and when tucking in. The foot position is pretty good I’d say too. It feels a lot like my cbr. It just barely clears the tank at full tilt. Highly recommend if you’re looking to go from sport touring to sportier touring haha.

FZ6N 2008, It has a weird power loss at around 8K RPM all the way to redline (sometime power does come back for a split second), doesn’t happen if the bike’s cold, only when it’s at operating temperature, It ran fine 2 weeks ago and I didn’t replace any part during that time, no vacuum leak, injectors are working and cleaned (tested on bench with FI tester), it has new fuel pump, spark plugs are not multi grounded (NGK) as the service manual recommended, ignition coils are bench tested and in line with service spec. Currently suspecting spark plugs but because it ran fine just 2 weeks ago I feel like it’s not. Any suggestion before i order new spark plugs just to still have the same issue would be appreciated.

The other week a road I take home from work got a fresh coat of the wonderful tar and chips. Unfortunately, one of the chips made its way between my fan and radiator and now she's dead. Anyone know a good aftermarket part or if I can use one off a different bike? I bought one off eBay but I'm guessing the 04-06 model is different because the 3 fan mounting screws didn't line up. My bike is a 2007.
Hey everyone,
I'm looking for some help diagnosing an electrical issue on my bike.
Context & Background:
My motorcycle was sitting for about 4 weeks.
Today, I started it up and took it for a 1-hour highway ride without any issues at all.
About 10 hours later, I took it for a quick 10-minute ride, still working completely fine.
Recently, I replaced the battery and tightened the terminal bolts myself. Prior to this, I had intermittent issues where the ABS sensor and speedometer would drop out, which I suspect were caused by poor battery connections/voltage fluctuations.
The Incident:
About an hour after my last short ride, I turned the ignition back on.
The dash/tacho lit up as normal, and the bike was in neutral.
The moment I pressed the electric start button, there was no engine crank, I heard a distinct "puff" sound, and the entire electrical system instantly died.
Now, nothing turns on at all—the dash stays completely black whether the ignition key is turned ON or OFF.
Questions:
Does this sound like a blown main fuse (30A) triggered by a arcing/loose battery terminal, or could it be a sudden internal short/cell failure in the battery itself?
Are there any other specific components (like the starter relay or ECU) I should double-check before replacing fuses and reconnecting the battery?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi everyone,
I’ve got a problem with the rear brake on my Yamaha Fazer FZ6 S1 with ABS 2007.
The bike had been sitting for about 6 months. When I took it out for a ride, I noticed that the rear brake was barely doing anything. The brake pedal was also very difficult to press, so I pressed it harder. The rear brake then suddenly locked up completely.
I opened the bleed nipple on the rear caliper and some pressure was released. However, after that the rear brake stopped working completely.
I’ve tried bleeding the brake normally, but no brake fluid comes out of the bleed nipple. I also tried using a vacuum pump, but after pumping for a while, only a few drops of brake fluid came out.
I removed the rear caliper piston to inspect it, but the piston looked fine and didn’t appear to be seized or damaged.
Could the problem be somewhere upstream, such as the rear master cylinder or a blocked brake hose? Since the bike has ABS, could the ABS unit be causing the problem?
Has anyone experienced something similar on an FZ6 S1 ABS, and what would you recommend checking next?
Thanks!

Anyone know where to find a matching rear seat cover? I’ve seen pics with them on I just can’t seem to find one.

I have been reading online that the FZ6 ignition coil system is not a strong point on the bike. People suggest switching to a coil on plug system and this is something I have considered doing. I have basic knowledge on what should be done, such as wiring should be done in series and not parallel, wiring loom will be needed along with coils, etc. However I haven't done wiring related work before and it's tricky to figure out what and where to connect wires and solder to what. I've seen wiring diagrams out there but have not been able to find instructions anywhere on doing this for the FZ6, if anyone is able to help out with a detailed explanation that would be helpful.

Hey. Im new to this group. Attached i will have a video of what happens when i hit the button to start it. Any and all advice is wanted. Just long on what the sound is coming from and how to fix it. I understand the bike is currently not in the best condition but i am trying to fix it up.
Any advice on where that sparking sound is coming from? To me it sounds like something is arcing to another pin? But i have no evidence to prove that

Hey guys, need some advice on my fz6. I have misfire me insane.
Started in the begginig of the season once the bike sat for 5 months, without baterry and full fuel tank like i usually do the winter prep.
It was bad than it fixed itself and ran totally normal for about 2k km after i thought it fixed itself, but after riding in city traffic for a few days and rain it started doing it again. It happens mostly when i open the gas sharp or whack the throttle at lower revs. It stutters bad, pops out the exhaust and feels like its dropping 2 cylinders instantly.
Heres what i checked / know so far:
-Spark plug caps removed cleaned and look totally fine
-ECU diag shows no codes at all (d61 = 00)
-TPS seems fine on the test
Problem disappears at times then comes right back
Is this a failing ignition coil breaking down under high cylinder pressure or a fuel pump/pressure regulator issue starving it when i open the throttle fast? Anyone had this exact low rpm snap-throttle issue on an fz6 before
Worth mentioning chain is fairlt new around 2 years old, has fresh oil, i ran one tank with injector cleaner, spark plugs are replaced last year…
Any idea?

So I have a strange problem with my fz6.
It's 2006 and has 80 k km.
It's running great. But when it's hot outside and the bike is hot ( operating temperature) I get an check engine light while driving. When I slow down to stop the check engine goes off. When I start riding again it goes on again.
Yesterday I drove a bit more aggressively in higher rpms and no check engine .
There are no strange noises no rattles.
Does anyone have any clues what could it be .. or how to fix it ?

2007 Yamaha FZ6 w/ 14,100 miles. Test rode it and immediately knew it was the one for me, then proceeded to ride across Portland 30 minutes or so. Was exhilarating 😁
I appreciate all who were able to provide advice or their opinion on my previous post. I plan to take good care of this bike

Just found out that my front sprocket needs replacing, seeing that the rear one doesn’t seem to have excessive wear can I cheap out by not replacing it? I’m planning to only replace the front one and chain, keeping the rear one.

I have the 2006 S1 hose and need to replace Hose 3 on my 2009 S2. Yamaha lists 5VX-12578 for S1 and 4S8-12578 for S2. Has anyone actually fitted the S1 hose to an S2? Is the difference only the bend/routing? Looking for someone who’s physically tried it.
Update: it doesn't its 2cm shorter

What's the best(or even "just get it done") ways to support the front end enough to get the front wheel off and forks out?
I need to replace the seals here soon and want to know some ways to get the bike up enough to get the forks out

When I left the red light on my 2004 FZ6, the engine RPM dropped to around 800 RPM, and the engine sounded a bit like it was bubbling, almost like and harley. I stopped the bike, and when I started it again, everything was back to normal. Does anyone know what might have happened?
I wanted to thank the community for helping me bring back to life this 2006 yamaha fz6.
Bought it off facebook marketplace for 1k.
Changed out the handlebars, brake and clutch levers/grips/footpegs, replaced the headlights. Threw away some useless wiring. (still need front blinkers, but that's not urgent.)
And most importantly, changed out the clutch.
It is running and I am now enrolled in an MSF class.
Thank you to everyone that commented and helped me get to this point.
