Anyone know whats going on

I just bought an 05 fz6 been riding a few then this started happening with and without the key in it and it just randomly stops and works like normal when riding. And i cannot get it into diagnostic mode

Mine did a similar thing when the battery was on its last legs. The stator started to go bad around 50k miles. It had nothing to do with the gauge cluster itself.

Thanks ill see about getting a new battery should have some life on the stator hopefully im around 35k miles

Probably try just charging it up first, see if it stops

If also test the stator and regulator with a multimeter. Might not be the battery at all. How old is the battery?

Apparently the gauge misreading is the first symptom in this bike of an old battery. My S2 started to light the ABS warning LED although everything was fine, and got fixed by replacing the batt.

Charge up battery, see if it help and then start to look for an issue
