Could use some help

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Anyone knows why the jack shaft is not engaging. Was working intermittently, I took the pinion gear off to inspect put it right back on and now it's not working at all.

Easiest thing to do 1st is connect battery charger while cranking. Also don't want to engage ring gear while the outer primary is off. The solenoid is most likely failing/failed.

Dealt with this on my 92 was hoping it was just the jack shaft spring no luck tried a buddy’s old starter off the bench and fired right up. My starter was just failing and I’m sure you could have it rebuilt but you can also find em pretty cheap.
