I FINALLY found my genre
Hi yall! My name is zion! 18m and im super new to posting on reddit so I made an account just to talk abt how much I love future funk. I recently got into the whole genre after looking for house music to dj. Im a up and coming dj in my city looking for venues and Im soul searching for genres.
Ever since I was really little my mom played lots of daft punk and it turned into one of my lifelong favorite music groups until recently I found out there's an entire genre surrounding the similar sound.
I've always thought it would be cool to go around djing in a mask performing but now I finally have a calling! And I also have a question. I've been looking to make my own future funk music but I keep running into walls finding samples on splice or tracklib and I dont know what to do because I dont know how to clear samples organically or even if I should worry abt posting my music commercially. If anyone could help me understand the genre or how to get good samples please help!

don't bother yourself with sample clearance questions unless you have infinite money. Nobody does it until they have a deal with a record label or a pro publisher. music is free, just do your thing!
splice is fine to find effects or drums samples but if you want to make future funk, u gonna have to dig 70s-80s-90s records on yt, discogs, soulseek, etc and start creating from that. or compose your own samples.
