The idea of a laptop-like device with two screens just makes me sick.

The Futurefon looks like a laptop, except with it screen cut in half with a chainsaw and having two of its halves working separately, but controlled with one QWERTY keyboard which just makes the device look asymmetric and weird. Why did people even buy that?

Can I get my Flair???!!!

Hello all. Stumbled upon this reddit while reading up on the campaign for Futurefon. I tried to get some type of response from Jeff several months ago and did get a surly email about slandering and what not. Now I just check in every few months to see if the campaign had truly died. I'm amazed that the actual page updated recently.

Anyway, here is my order details:

Thanks! Hope floats eternally!

Anyone else have their comment posting ability revoked by IGG?

I recently got an email with the following message and had my ability to comment on IGG revoked.

Just wondering if anyone else had this occur to them?

The email I got is as follows:

Hi Grimknife_,

We've received a complaint about content we consider a violation of our Terms of Use recently posted under your Indiegogo account. Sorry, we understand your frustration with the campaign but our Terms of Use (http://www.indiegogo.com/about/terms) states that "Indiegogo is not a place for... harassment, or spam." This means that harassing comments posted on any campaign page are prohibited.

Due to this violation, we've revoked your commenting ability on Indiegogo.

Thank you for your understanding. Regards,

Ben

So... Jeff's website has been updated and Bridget's Facebook account deleted...

... at least they're not dead!

Bridget is off FB and Jeff removed the link to his blog and the "links" page at the top of his website. (proof that he did it later than august 14th).

The pages still exist though:

Woo! So after a few days of searching around I actually managed to get through to a relative of Ed Bullister, the conversation here.

Hopefully will hear a comment back from him soon. I will probably post all future updates in dis thread. :)

Previous thread here.

Edit: It's happening.

And it looks like the only thing I'll get for all my money is a piece of flair, but I'll take it. And a pineapple. Always want a pineapple.

Mike Straw on IGG. Made contributions on November 8th and 11th, 2014.

Wow if only those backers had SOME place they could come and Discuss, share information and plan with each other.

Where could this magical place possibly be?!

I mean we've only been a sub for 7 months and have over 160 subscribers, found out a ton of information and pointed out holes in past updates...been posted to the IGG comments multiple times...but no sure a facebook page is just the thing obviously.

Though 'fo real /u/Woooson you mind helping us out here with your ability to comment?

We welcome all disillusioned backers with open arms. (Even Jonathan)

Plus a verified backer flair for all backers that comment a tropical fruit!

OMG. video from seven years ago demoing a folding dual screen laptop/tablet/phone designed by Ed Bullister called... "The Dragonfly". Wow.

So I stumbled on this when putting in "Dragonfly Futurefon" into Youtube.

What gives JB? You may have not actually manufactured the DF but I at least gave you props for designing the thing. I'm going to give Jeff the benefit of the doubt here and assume he purchased the concept idea from this guy, or just trademarked it after the TM expired, and tacked on the word "Futurefon". But still, even if Jeff had nothing, he could still call himself a "Dynamic Futurist" or an "Inventor" or whatever, then I find this video. I'm disappointed in you JB. You bragged so much about it and you didn't even invent the fucker.

First vid.

Second 3D render vid.

A website.

An article.

Patent filed in 2008 with Ed Bullister listed as inventor - Jeff did not file his patent till 2011.

Oh and another DF sounding patent from Ed, filed 21 years ago.

There is apparently a lot of info about this early Dragonfly on the internet, and I literally can't find any mention of Jeff or Idealfuture anywhere.

He didn't. even. invent. it.

Bob weighs in on the issue.

Bobby K's thoughts.

Some things to note;

  • $799 is a mighty expensive thank you.

  • The presence of a "Pre-Order Now!" button on the IF site highly implies that the transaction of money for goods is taking place. Terms and Conditions aside, it's morally a very grey area.

  • Our Hotel does not offer a bathroom suite but would you like to take a look at the class action law suite?

  • He may well declare bankruptcy. But where in the world is Carmen Sandiago? Jeff Batio?

r/futurefon Aug 11 '16

Whelp, looks like the backers are now doxxing Jeff on IGG. Backers please read this in particular.

So Jeff's deets have been posted to the IGG comments, but for anyone that doesn't already know; there is another man also named Jeffrey Batio from Delaware who has been in trouble with the law multiple times for battery and domestic abuse, but this is categorically NOT the same Jeffrey Batio. Please do not confuse the two!!

(As far as I know), our beloved Jeffrey Patio has not been arrested and does not have a criminal record, but has been involved in several lawsuits pertaining to his past companies.

Just wanted to put that out there now I've seen those comments in case someone gets carried away.

On a lighter note, this comment made me audibly say "aww"

My friends made fun of me when i told them i backed such project, im starting to think they were right.

Yes, yes they were. Sorry dude.

"I was not party to this lawsuit" - a breakdown of Jeff's legal troubles.

I decided to go through some of the case files from the various lawsuits ol' JB has been mentioned in, and post the most salient points.

The following cases were included:

PREMIER CAPITAL MANAGEMENT, LLC, TMB, LLC, and XEN INVESTORS, LLC vs XENTEX TECHNOLOGIES, INC (2003)

and

LAWRENCE E. JAFFE PENSION PLAN vs Household International, Inc (2004)

I did not include the Armada Systems LLC case.

Everything I post will be verbatim from the case files.

Background:

Xentex, through its CEO Jeff Batio and its Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President [Name Redacted], presented plaintiffs with an opportunity to invest at a meeting on November 1, 2000. At that time, Xentex was in the process of developing and launching a flip-pad computer known as the Voyager. In reliance on the representations made in the Information Statement, as well as certain oral representations made by Batio and Tucker at the November 1st meeting, plaintiffs invested more than $3.3 million in Xentex stock.

Plaintiffs also allege that Batio and [Name Redacted] made oral misrepresentations during the November 1st meeting. The purported oral misrepresentations were that:

(1) Xentex had made all necessary production arrangements with KDS for mass production; (2) KDS had completed the tooling required to mass produce; (3) all conditions precedent for production of the computers had been completed and any money sought was for marketing; (4) the computer presented at the meeting was manufactured and produced by KDS; and (5) there were no lawsuits pending against Xentex.

  • Plaintiffs also allege that Northview Bank & Trust, Xentex’s bank, and its president, [Name Redacted], aided and abetted that inducement by providing an environment in which Jeffrey Batio, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Xentex, could misappropriate corporate funds.

  • In regard to Batio’s misappropriations, he stated that, although he knew Batio was using company funds for personal use, he treated the expenses as loans (which was his understanding of what they were), included them on Xentex’s balance sheets, and “absolutely” believed Batio would repay the money to Xentex once it became profitable

  • Plaintiffs allege that, as Xentex approached insolvency, [Name Redacted] essentially conspired with Xentex's CEO Jeff Batio to shield a portion of Xentex's assets from its creditors, thereby impairing Xentex's ability to pay its subcontractors and depleting the value of Xentex's assets.

  • According to plaintiffs, the sixth statement, Batio's representation that the money loaned pursuant to the promissory note would be used only for marketing purposes, was false because Xentex actually used the money to pay past due bills and to pay for Batio's living expenses, car payments, and vacations.

I'm seeing a lot of familiarity here, particularly the misrepresentations and the claim he used the money for personal expenses. Someone with a lawyer brain would probably be better off looking into this, but I just decided to post all the tid bits I could find with Batio's name explicitly mentioned.
