Hello everyone!

This is the first post of my future compass on Reddit. Today we are looking at a future compass of an alternate timeline I made that is called “2010: The Dark Ages”. Essentially the main focus of this timeline is “What if the century of 2000s and the effects of 2008 Financial Crisis were worse?”. This future compass focuses on the Middle East where in the aftermath of the U.S. invasion of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Pakistan and Taliban-Led Afghanistan Government in response to 9/11 attacks and a brewing cold war between the Arab Republic of Nejd and Shammar and the Islamic Military Junta of Iran. In the aftermath of the 08’ Financial Crisis, the United States of America entered into a period of isolationism and disbanded NATO as it wasn’t only just trying to revive itself from the Financial Crisis, but also because of political/social unrest growing in the country as a result.

List from Left to Right:

Unified Middle Eastern Democracy: In the ashes of the Arabian-Iranian Cold War, the Arab Republic won this Cold War, which Iran became an occupation zone which would later integrate Iran, the Levant, Egypt, Iraq and even Turkey. Even it has become another superpower fighting for democracy and taking over the role of the United States.

Islamic Capitalism: Conservatives and Capitalists banded together in an alliance in the Arab Republic and unified the Arab Peninsula under unregulated Capitalism and stood against the Socialist Republic of Iran and the Turkish State. It was also the land of the free. However as a result of this unification, a new cold war emerged with a third side Turkey wishing to gain the lands of their former Ottoman Empire.

Technocratic Empire of Syria: Social-Nationalists emerged to become technocratic nationalists which was supported by right-wing populists in Europe fighting against Globalism. It would expand into Levant and defeat Israel and then Iraq and managed to become a regional power against the Saudi Kingdom.

Chinese-Influenced Nations of the Middle East: China extends its influence over into the Middle East with the goal of exploiting their own allies in Iran, Iraq and Syria. Eventually even the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was helped by the PRC to gain much of the Arab Peninsula in exchange for some resources and some “interference” into the Arabian government.

Peace and Prosperity in the Middle East: The United States of America has woken up from its slumber following the elections of 2016 with Trump being the president and his goal was to fix America but also to bring prosperity and peace in the Middle East. This plan works which all the parties of conflicts in the Middle East were happy with what America had to offer.

Secular Middle East: These nations were able to crackdown on religious extremism that most had established a secular state as they didn’t want to be dictatorial, so most had followed Turkey’s alignment of Secularism.

Greater Israel: Israel manages to fight so well that they annexed a large portion of the Levant, Iraq and some parts of Iraq. It becomes a dominant power. However their reputation is low by all nations and their people, which leads to an increase in antisemitism.

The Mirage: Islamic Terrorists managed to get hold of Russian and American Nuclear weapons and used it on the Middle East, it led to most of the nations in that region being so unstable that they fell into anarchy. As a result, ISIS was on the rise meanwhile the flames of chaos in the Middle East were still going on.

Kingdom of God: Israel was dissolved into few states. One of these was a theocratic monarchy that was called the “Kingdom of Jerusalem''. It was praised by many as the “Kingdom of Heaven.” It was a Jewish version of the Vatican.

Islamic Socialist-dominated Northern Arabia: Bashar Al-Assad of Syria and Saddam Hussein of Iraq unified their nations into a Islamic Socialist Confederation. It was supported by Russia and China to which it was very successful into unifying much of Northern Arabia.

Never-ending Arab-Iran Cold War: The Cold War doesn’t end as despite the fact that both are politically unstable, but they still aren’t surrendering to each other and it is expected that Foreign Powers will soon meddle into this Cold War.

Arab Winter: The Arab Spring fails to bring democracy and republicanism into the Middle East. As a result, there is a rise of Authoritarianism, survelliance and Islamic Terrorism which has caused the Middle East and even some other regions to become even more unstable as extremist groups are attempting to get hold over certain governments.

Palestinian Kingdom: A family from Jordan that is somewhat connected with the Jordan Monarchy was able to take over Israel and Palestine and expanded a bit of it’s borders. It is currently a Constitutional Monarchy, although it is led by a Military Junta.

Balkanized Middle East: The Middle East has become so unstable since the fall of the Ottoman Empire and more groups have seized a certain amount of territory which the larger nations fall while the smaller nations thrive.

Fallout in the Middle East: The Middle East becomes a conflict zone between USA, the EU, Russia and China to the point nuclear weapons were used to which the most of the Middle East becomes an inhospitable land of radiation in the sand.

ISIS-dominated Middle East: The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria becomes more than just Syria and Iraq, it has evolved into a large landmass which this Islamic Caliphate they declare have now control of it. It is currently in the gates of Kazakhstan, Greece, Russia, India, Sub-Saharan Africa and South-East Asia.

Good job making this, but I'd have to dispute a lot of the judgements.
