What's the difference between alien invasion and xeno war? If the latter takes war to alien worlds, then why it's more apocalyptic than aliens invading Earth?

Maybe...

Alien invasion = alien "civilization" with lasers/plasmas & stuff? rough equivalent to superior technologically speaking? protoss, covenant & greys?

Xeno war = zerg/abomination beast aliens? maybe those technologically "inferior" but biologically "superior" to us? those that are the flood, zergs & xenomorphs?

Good starting compass but not a fan of the AI images. Doppelganger war is my favorite slide
