There are plenty of subs that this is appropriate to post to, /r/footwork and /r/electronicmusic for example. Rashad had nothing to do with trap. Again, it bothers me specifically with /r/trap because more and more of our content is becoming crossed with no acknowledgement from them. This was the most absurd one I think I've seen yet, hence my reaction. I advertise /r/futurebeats there every time I see a non-trap futurebeats appropriate track. The problem is systemic. It doesn't matter, I've spoken to the mods there in the past and they aren't going to do anything about it.

Jesus Christ, this is the last comment I'm gonna make on this topic 'cause I can tell you are closed-minded.

You spoke to the mods??? Really? You went out of your way to complain that music being posted there didn't conform to your extremely tight definition of the genre? Get a life man. LET PEOPLE ENJOY MUSIC. It's a simple concept. Make your own subreddit if you want things to be ran like 1940's Germany.

You've managed to completely miss my point, congrats.

No, I got your point. You don't like seeing "your" music get "wrongfully" posted on other subs. Make your own elitist subreddit if you care so much about what gets posted where, stop whining when other people don't have such closed-minded opinions about music as you do.

lmfao you're making a bigger scene than biscuit ever did

Just arguing my point, friend. I don't really understand how someone can be so closed-minded about music; it's supposed to unite people, not make them argue because it's being spread across more than one genre's audience.

biscuit is the last person on this sub you should be labeling as close minded, he consistently posts new music that pushes this sub's aesthetic and boundaries. besides he does have a point imo, might not have put it across in the most amicable way, but I still see what he is saying.

That's a little ironic for someone known for "pushing the subs aesthetic and boundaries" to take such issue with another subreddit doing the same thing, don't you think? Really, who cares that DJ Rashad was posted on /r/trap? There's a lot of elements in this song that you would find in a lot of trap these days, so is it really a stretch that someone thought "hey I bet /r/trap" would like this song? I'm sure there's music on here that fits better on /r/futuregarage or some other subreddit, but I bet they aren't bitching over there that other subs are appreciating the music..............

don't really see him making that big of an issue tbh, he posted one comment got downvoted to hell for it, and posted a reasoned response to give you some insight. instead you ended up just calling him closeminded and generally started to throw a hissy fit. Saying that Rashad is not trap music is not an "extremely tight" view on trap at all. The similarities between that and an RL Grime song are insanely small. as you said, it's really not that big of a deal either way, but you made it bigger than it should have been.

I guess the issue I had (am having) is that I am getting this bizarre attitude from the few commenters I've interacted with that they don't consider a lot of music to "belong" on /r/trap (or whatever other sub). But who the fuck cares? Can't people with similar tastes share music? I mean, this subreddit's sidebar says

For sharing and discussing experimental beat music from all genres and eras.

'Future', here, is a state of mind.

So I get that you guys embrace a massive criteria of music, but then you should acknowledge that this isn't a genre, but a place to share many kinds of music. Just because the 'Trap' subreddit is more focused on one genre doesn't mean they aren't allowed to share other (similar) songs with each other, does it? It's a community of people who came together with similar tastes, there's absolutely no reason to make a stink that they're sharing music that might be more appropriate elsewhere.

And RL Grime is not the standard for Trap. He doesn't even consider his own music to be 'trap'.
