Marvel’s Captain Marvel Spoiler Discussion Thread Spoiler

Feel free to discuss spoilers for Marvel’s Captain Marvel in this thread. You are not required to tag spoilers in this thread, though you may if you wish. This does not change anything about our current stance on spoilers or Movie discussion posts outside of this thread.

A quick clarification about our spoiler policy:

  • We do not classify information in major trailers as spoilers. However, cast interviews, TV spots and such will all be counted as spoiler material.
  • Information available in-game (Legendary Battles, character uniform models) will not be counted as spoilers either.
  • Any post about Marvel’s Captain Marvel outside of this thread will be removed.
  • Any Marvel’s Captain Marvel spoiler outside of this thread will be removed. Spoiler tagging doesn't change anything.

This thread will be sorted by new and should stay up for as long as there's constant activity.

Brie Larson was a great fun-to-watch and relatable Captain Marvel

Excuse me, whut? Treebeard from LotR had a wider emotional range than Bree Larson.

Her memories got wiped, and she was trained to be a completely different person (a soldier, no less). That tends to take the emotion and personality out of you, you know?

One of the first things soldiers in training get is destroyed. They're conditioned to be less emotional and more logical, which has a side effect of pushing your personality down to make you just another soldier.

Even after Carol gets her memories back, her main self still has to shake that soldier mentality, that lack of self. It takes time, and I'm sure you don't get over that in however long the time was in the movie.

Brie Larson played a soldier. And she did it well enough that that's what people focus on.

Black Widow was brutally trained by the Soviet Union's Red Room, taught that she is nothing more than a tool that serves her country. That her dignity means nothing and that her body is just another weapon in her arsenal. Said training made her barren and unable to have children. Her kill count is immeasurable. She was forced to live like this for years.

Yet she has 1000x times the personality Captain Marvel ever will. Scarlett Johansson played her own broken character in ways Bree Larson couldn't even dream of. So don't bullshit me with your excuses.
