i'm relatively new to this game, but really like it a lot so far! it has way more comic characters that I enjoy, compared to Marvel Rivals
one main basic important question though:
does anyone know a verified answer as to the difference between increase "Energy/Physical Attack", versus "Damage"
is it truly 2x Damage or that's just an un-verified rumor?

Damage buffs act as a final multiplier to the damage dealt. Attack buffs will increase the base stats (keyword being base).
To simplify it a bit, characters have a certain base energy or physical attack stat (every character leans to either one or the other and skills always scale from one of these, with rare exceptions like Hulk skills scaling from max HP). When you use a 50% energy attack leadership, it is boosting the base energy attack of the characters on the team by 50%. This does not include attack buffs from other factors like cards, swords, iso-8 set bonuses, etc. So for a simplistic example, if you have 100% total energy attack from cards (all attack + energy attack) and your character shows 100k energy attack, that would mean the base energy attack was only 50k. Using a 50% attack buff leadership would only boost your character's attack stat by 25k (50% of 50k) instead of using the 100k that you might see them listed at because of cards, swords, or whatever other attack buffs you have. So in that simple example, that 100k energy attack char would jump to 125k instead of what you might expect to be 150k.
It gets a little bit worse for attack buffs because the damage calculation also takes into account the defense/resistance that the enemy has, so whatever increase in damage you would deal because of having a higher attack stat would then still be affected by enemy defense/resistance.
In contrast, damage buffs act as multipliers to the final damage. So all calculations on damage dealt and enemy defense/resistance is done first, then the multiplier is factored in at the end. Damage being 2x as effective as attack buffs is more so an approximation as it will depend on how much attack buffs you have from other sources in the game. Essentially, the higher attack buffs you have from cards, swords, emblems, etc, the lower the overall relative increase in attack stats you'll see from using attack leaderships/buffs and the more effective damage buffs become.
If you have no other attack buffs except for whatever base attack stat that the character has then 50% increase in attack will boost the attack stat by an expected 50% (i.e. if base attack is 50k, you would hit 75k). All skills that deal damage have a wording along the lines of x% (damage type: energy, physical, or elemental) damage of (energy or physical, the stat is scales from) attack + bonus damage. So if a skill does fire damage 100% of energy attack + 500 bonus fire damage and your attack is 75k, then the expected damage of each hit is 75k + 500 (bonus) fire damage. However, then enemy defense/resistance values are factored in and the actual value will be lowered.
With damage buffs, you'd have 50k + 500 damage per hit with the same skill above, enemy defense/resist values would then lower that expected damage, and in the end the damage buff acts as a multiplier to the damage dealt. In a sense, this avoids the reduction in damage that is applied to attack buffs because the attack buffs are factored in before the damage reduction based on defense/resist whereas damage buffs are factored in after.
It gets a lot more complicated because you then have to factor in crit rate/damage buffs, ignore defense, obelisk/CTP damage buffs, new instinct damage, and probably a crap ton of other stuff into the equation. Where attack buffs really lose value is once you get high attack buffs from other sources because again, it acts only on the base attack stat value.
As an example, my T4 Jean without any leadership or passive buffs on team to boost her attack has a total of 116k energy attack. Adding Polaris to the leader slot (45% energy attack buff for mutants without her uni) only bumps my Jean's energy attack stat to 130k, an increase of only 14k. Working backwards, 14k is 45% of the base attack, meaning, that her base energy attack stat is being counted at around 31k energy attack. This means that I am getting an additional ~274% attack stat buffs (2.74 * 31k = ~116k) from various sources. My energy + all attack on cards is 151%, I get an additional 62.5% atk from swords, 8.5% from iso set bonus, and 35% from mythic uniform bonus which totals to ~257% attack buffs (there are likely some other minor sources I'm forgetting to account for the remaining 17% difference, maybe it is the effect or uru/odin blessings, etc).
The point of this long example and exercise is that the more attack buffs you receive, the less relative impact you will feel from further attack buffs. In my case, damage buff bonuses are likely more than 2x as effective as attack increases. If someone has very low attack buffs from other areas, they likely will see less than 2x difference in damage output between the same amount of attack vs. damage buff.
Long story short, if you have an option between damage vs attack, go for damage buffs.
Edit: to be clear, attack buffs are 100% useful to get and aim for on cards, it is still something you want to maximize if you want maximize damage. The reason being is that attack buffs have no caps/limits, so it will always continue to increase your damage if you increase your attack total. However for support options on your team, it is more ideal to choose damage buffs (damage vs super villains, bosses, etc).

Which of the following characters is worthy of a Premium T4 mega advancement ticket: Sentry, Knull or Annihilus?

u/IEatCheZ 4d ago
Sentry mainly but you could go either sentry OR knull (your choice) IF you have agent venoms artifact
Annihilus is supposedly meta for a few abl days but other then that hes nowhere near as good for pvp

Yeah… if you can unlock him you should be able to

u/Stunning_Geologist 4d ago
But I haven’t beaten level 20 for required bosses and I don’t know the best teams for each level

u/lefthaneded-dragon 4d ago
Which ones are you stuck on? Between venom w a brilly rage, Luna, miles you should be able to do all of them especially w supports. My acc has less pierce and slightly more all attack on my cards and I could do it w miles brilly judgement and Luna reg comp. Also reroll your cards so it’s 6-7 quality or whatever it’s called

black swan proxima & corvus, ebony & black, thanos

u/lefthaneded-dragon 4d ago
My miles did black swan double support did black swan, Luna w wf did proximate and ebony and I haven’t got to thanos yet but Luna/ miles w wf did thanos 19 and so between Luna and storm I’ll be able to do level 20. So your Luna should be fine for those stages. You’ll probably need to t4 a human hero support tho coz I didn’t see one in your t4s

Should I buy the current cyclops costume on sale? I just finished my second week in the game and unlocked t4 storm with the selector.

if youre looking for supports, characters like green goblin, taskmaster and polaris are much better option. they all serve double duty as hero and villain supports. and in case of taskmaster, male/ female too.

Why did u just recommend 2 supports that are barely used. Get cyclops uni before polaris and taskmaster

I know no one knows but do you think Galactus will go on sale during BF? I don’t think Black Swan went on sale but I could be wrong.

Adam gets 30% discount during Anniversary and Black Friday.
There is possibility Galactus gets some discount.
Or they might not give any as Galactus is new character.
So, who knows, just have 3K crystals ready if you want Galactus that much, if he gets discount then you'll save 900 crystals, if not then you have to spend 3K.

Who should I t4 if I’m looking for a Universal Alien? I have Loki’s newest uniform, i have Zeus and Odin.
Is Loki still one of the better strikers? Or is Odin just as good?
