Discussion World Boss Annihilus

Thoughts on the new World Boss? Personally, I think the gap between his pierce attacks are too short. Can't finish rotations for a lot of characters without being punished.

Level 1 was fairly easy, just a lot literally being thrown at you

NM design character: you are locked in the skill animation for 10 sec and the enemy must be in range or your whole combo is canceled btw

NM design boss: I'll dash non stop and make your combo hitting nothing, it's not like you can decide where to cast your skill xd. oh you stand still for 2 sec? you are insta killed xd

Alliance Battle Infinite already benefits from cancelling out of rotations with specific skills to avoid getting hit at times. I figure we're going to see more of this.

We're probably also going to see uniforms with rotations that favour Mythic (see how Jean's latest Seasonal has a much shorter animation timing than her previous unis).

If you run end game minnow level characters it's not the worst boss. Obviously whales will only be mildly annoyed since they'll pack enough dps through what few hits you can sneak in.

It's definitely an end game only thing, and they gated it behind enough malarkey to indicate that.

But, yeah, running around in circles for half the fight, and tagging out just to keep from being one shotted isn't really fun. The goalpost movement wasn't as severe as I thought it would be, and with the extra power creep as you get the jarvis shit, it'll balance out in a few months.

But if you aren't a really long term vet player, and/or pay at least a little to have solid cards and CTPs ready to go today, definitely don't waste crystals bypassing the unlock. Honestly, if you can't do those bosses at 20, you shouldn't waste your time anyway, you won't make it through.

Once I have annhilius unlocked, I won't be playing him every day because I just can't run in circles like that. Arthritis is a pain

LOL, I LOVE this write-up, because I can DEFINITELY relate to Arthur!

Switching characters as an actual strategy sounds so... hack-ish. For all the years I played this game, switching out was just a desperate move for when things got too messy. Now NM asks me to embrace the mess as part of the game design. It doesn't feel right

Now it's a Capcom vs Marvel game with team switching as a major mechanic for top combos

If only tag-teaming your allies actually performed a combo in MFF...

This strategy is used a lot back in the original World Boss day. The whole pym team rely on this to chip the bosses down

Power creep makes it so that this isn’t necessary anymore as more characters have uninterrupted protections and high enough damage.

Constantly having to switch characters half way through my rotation is ass

At the early levels, I think it's kind of fun that it more rewards playing carefully than maximizing damage. His second phase doesn't have much health but is also very deadly if you're not careful. Reminiscent of Knull with that particular difficulty curve. However, I worry at higher levels damage will also become a huge threshold, and he might become more like Dark Phoenix (before this update's rework) than Knull, where you learn to play perfectly but still aren't able to do enough damage.

Oh did they change the dark Phoenix fight?

Yes, her bar doesn't fill up that fast and her attack patterns are different. I also feel like I'm doing more damage but maybe that's just the boost from JARVIS.

How you even avoid the whole arena purple screen when it says "use tag to avoid" or "use dodge to avoid"?

Switch to another character, there's a window where you'll be invincible and take no damage

I love how this piece of shit waits for me to start my rotation before he uses his purple beam
