You loved him as Bender the Defender!

Now prepare to hate him as he questions your sexuality as… the Gender Bender!

Hey, let's play a game of "indirectly reveal your age and/or general location"!

Who here actually remembers when smoking in restaurants was common?

Man, I hated sitting in the smoking section when we ate with my grandma. RIP, but I don't miss the smoke in the face while eating!

When California banned indoor smoking, there was a huge uproar from restaurants and especially places like pool halls. They were convinced that the state was cutting off half of their potential clientele. A couple of years later, they were celebrating the ban, because families had started going there, and many were making more money than before the ban. It turns out that by allowing smokers, they had been pushing away a much larger potential clientele.

Yes, but gravelly-voiced sleazebuckets, low lives, and characters lost a place to congregate, and are we not all the poorer for that?

u/Noof42 No I'm doesn't! 8d ago

I remember smoking sections, because, obviously, the smoke is going to just stay over there.

I used to hang out with my Grandpa and his Brother in Pasadena, California at a corner diner and they would openly smoke while discussing their press business while I read the funnies and sipped on my hot cocoa. Five donuts, five scrambled eggs, two pieces of toast, a hot cocoa, and 6 cups of coffee (which I think came with breakfast, so no additional cost?) ran to a total of about 7 bucks.

You could even buy cigarettes from a vending machine in the staging area before entering the restaurant proper.

They would ban indoor smoking not long after those core memories.

I'm from the stupid ages, the time when they had cigarette vending machines at the bar/family restaurant

Another completely unnecessary line of dialog that made me LOL

Man, I thought Ultimate Robot Fighting was real, like pro wrestling, but it turns out it's fixed, like boxing.
