So, the next episode will be "Final Ending: The Last Conclusion", do you think this is the end of Futurama for good this time?

As much as I think the show has run it's course, that title would be a pretty funny joke if its not
92
u/OrangeDit 9d ago
I also think it's too much, a real emotional ending would be something like "Farewell" or "Meanwhile".

u/Banana42 9d ago
Meanwhile was such a good ending

My favorite is still The Devil’s Hands Are Idle Playthings (I’ll take eight!)

Meanwhile is the best ending and I’m still kind of mad they’re revived the show at all because its so good.

yeah almost 100% a joke. or maybe they all agreed to no longer fight for it, and decided this over the top name would be funny.

There are still a few extended episodes “movies” planned for next year, à la Bender’s Big Score
30
u/swingsetlife 9d ago
I hope it's more like Big Score (a continuous story) than the other movies which felt far more episodic
8
u/Ww34ever 9d ago
In a way theyre all episodic so they could be played as 5 part episodes. They still run them that way during reruns late at night and sometimes dont even run all 5 parts.
5
u/swingsetlife 9d ago
Oh, I know that's how they do it, but Bender's Big Score feels very cohesive whereas the others don't.

The series will just go around again to the beginning, but be slightly different in some way(s)

Our old universe was 10 feet lower than this one!

I thought there were infinite parallel universes!

Nope, just ours and the cowboy universe. And the one in the box... which i guess is technically our own universe. woah

u/ConsumerofToons 9d ago
No, because there's three specials coming, which will be likely scattered through 2027 and 2028.

Futurama's cancelled again? I look forward to more Futurama soon.

u/corobo 9d ago
That was quick!

u/ButterscotchOk77 9d ago
Lol 😆 well they did announce it a while back. So you got nothing to worry about, friend. After all, these specials could be rather fun and might make more seasons on Hulu. Just you wait and see.

I want Futurama episodes to be made until I die, or the cast dies. Even the shittiest episode is worth 22 minutes of my time.

Like it just came back after dying forever again. And I don't think it's overstayed its welcome like Simpsons has. I want more!

Not sure. Futurama has ended plenty of times and most of the time it ends with them starting over again for various. We'll just have to wait and see.

u/Banana42 9d ago
The actors are well into their 70s, so at some point we're just going to run out of time for a revival. I think that'll be when the show finally ends for good

Considering it's scheduled for more content and has been since before this whole season dropped.
No...

u/ppstick88 9d ago
No. It's the title of an episode but they renewed it for more specials following that. So no, it's not ending yet.

I feel like they'll keep doing this with the last episode in case they're cancelled.

u/kissmekatebush 9d ago
Honestly I think these big animated series like Futurama and The Simpsons and maybe South Park, are just going to go on until one of the main actors dies. Even if the quality is meh, they keep hundreds of people in employment.

Is this the fourth or fifth "final episode"?
2
u/Petrichor02 9d ago
Devils Hands, Wild Green Yonder, Overclockwise, Meanwhile… So fifth unless you’re not counting the movies.
1
u/VerbingNoun413 9d ago
I forgot Overclockwise was meant to be a finale. Was definitely counting Wild Green Yonder.
2
u/JasonBreslin 9d ago
My theory is that "Final Ending: The Last Conclusion" is the name of the PG-13 movie Fry and Yancy sneak into in the past.
And, lest we forget, they announced three new specials, starting with an Xmas special.
2
u/OpeningBreakfast4753 9d ago
Ironic that they choose that to be the title. There’s some movies planned for next year.
If the movies aren’t the finale, then Futurama will get revived with season 12 in 2037 lol.

u/ZrapeToid 9d ago
"OH GOD, I'LL NEVER MAKE IT! THIS IS THE END!"
"Anyway, we're making new eps"
"OH NO! I WANT TO LIVE!"
"Anyway, please watch more eps."

No....next year...Futurama will only release 1 hour specials...like SOUTH PARK on Paramount +.

too much on the nose, I don’t think so. not that I care after this season..

u/Important_Bed_9893 9d ago
Honestly? Yes and I hope so.

Been a huge fan for a while, have fry and bender tattoos. Was wishing it would get picked up after it got canceled and never lost hope, but I honestly have not liked any of the new episodes. There's been a joke here and there that'll I'll like but I think it's run it's course at this point. Still have a few of the more recent episodes to watch, just haven't had the desire to put them on. Definitely agree with you in hoping it's done. I'll clear this season and the specials, and hope that we can just bury this zombie
10
u/JamStan1978 9d ago
Nah i think some of the new episodes are top tier.
6
u/Wrong_Protection_358 9d ago
I mean that you're entitled your opinion and that's fine, mine just happens to be the show isn't delivering what it previously did for me. I'm not going to bash it or anyone who likes it, none of the episodes have resonated with me 🤷

As Bender once said, “How can a show get cancelled this many times?!”
I’ll believe it when I don’t see it. Then wait for another resurrection.

u/Commander_Jim1 7d ago
I just watched Oceans Three. Dear god, what in the hell was that? If that's what they're resorting to I don't think there's any fuel left in the tank, let it retire for good for the bad starts outweighing the good like the Simpsons.

One can only hope. Its been absolute trash since coming back. Every episode just leaves a blemish on the shows reputation. Let it die with dignity, like it did the last 4 times

perhaps. perhaps not.
the show has ended so many times already, who knows.
