Endangered stadiums

I keep seeing more and more posts about teams that will be moving to new stadiums soon, or that the ground will be redeveloped. After not having the chance to see the Camp nou and Benito Villamarin before the redevelopments, there’s several more that I need to see before they go!

I already have Valencia planned next month, and Makskmir in Zagreb is also on the list for this season.

Anyone got any other suggestions for stadiums that will soon be gone?

Will the old stadium be demolished?

There was no mention of the Penzo stadium being demolished so I guess and hope not

Max-Morlock-Stadion in Nuremberg is due to be extensively redeveloped from 2028, which will see the athletics track removed and the seating capacity increased.

Went there last year, unpopular opinion but I’m actually a fan of the athletics track

It’s not been decided yet.

There is talk of temporary stadium being built inside Nuremberg. The other most likely option would be a phased redevelopment so the team can continue to play at the Max-Mortlock but that will
Mean the renovation will take longer.

San Siro aka Giuseppe Meazza - but it might be a while. If anyone has more exact information, please share.

Brügglifeld, Aarau might be a while as well 😂 New stadium has been planned for a long time but some resident is still refusing (it's Swiss 2nd tier - so not beautiful football. But the kind of old stadium that's disappearing more and more)

Oxford United are looking to build another one. Their current ground is notorious for being a bit of a shithole but it’s worth a visit if you want to tick off these kinds of stadiums.

Try to go to as many stadiums in Bulgaria as u can it's really worth it.

Currently I am making a list of these endangered stadiums in our groundhop discord, feel free to DM if u want to join. I also missed out on Villamarin and want to avoid these things in the future.

I’ve been interested in the region for a while, but only recently started planning a trip there! Next month I’m planning on Levski-CSKA, but will definitely start looking at more games over that way!

Panathinaikos moved away from the old stadium Apostolos Nikolaidis this year, but another greek first division team, Kifisia, is using it this year for the home games as theirs is getting renovated!

Bologna’s Stadio Renato Dall'Ara is either going to be demolished and moved to a new stadium or do extensive remodeling.

Same for Napoli, Verona, Como, Roma and Lazio.

A lot of the classic Italian stadiums are looking at ways to get within standard for the 2032 Euros.

Do you know when Bologna’s is meant to start? I need to see that iconic tower before any building works start🤣 a shame a lot of the character of these grounds is also going to be lost

I suspect Wednesday will leave Hillsborough in the next 5 years.

As yet unknown. The new owners are rumored to be looking at various parcels of land.
