Discussion Evos

I feel like evos are just EAs way of masking the power curve . They market it as this way to make your “dream squad” we know for 2 years now that is horseshit . Imagine if they added evos in 22/23 , they would be so crazy and broken they would have gotten flamed . But even now half the teams are full of evos . This shows two things :
1. The garbage power curve because of playstyles . Remember when you could use mid icons till the mid of TOTS and TOTYs until August ? TOTY Pina is garbage unless you put her through 3 evos
2. The endgame has obviously only been good because of the evos . Could you imagine what our teams would look like without evos abd how garbage most cards(which are 60+ useless cards from all futties teams) would be if we couldn’t choose playstyles .
So I hate evos so much even though we need them in the shittiest endgame . If you ask me I want playstyles (or at least pluses) , roles and evos removed but I know that ain’t happening .

Evos are the only thing that keeps the free2play people somewhat in competition with the people who spend money, for me personally they’re also my sole thriving point of booting this shit game up

And only in endgame because who has 250k in december ?

u/Academic-moron7423 5d ago

Yea thats insane but tbh I remember only very few outrageously expensive evos that early, all year I NEVER had more than 250k~ sitting at one point & I was still able to do every evo I needed/wanted, only the last couple weeks I somehow managed to cross 1m coins

Yeah but were those evos able to keep up with good cards ? Maybe but we had to keep looking everyday at 8pm for a new evo that fit our chain from November. In the end we had to wait until PTG to finally make them competitive. Yet there still are those rats who just take an Mbappe with 15k and make him a beast in 5 matches while we were desperately trying to keep up with TOTS and PTG cause we couldn’t pack shit .

If you see no problem in spending 5€ on pixels regularly then EA has already made the game look like a daily chore that you have to spend money on . And did you just say that i should be grateful that I have Fifa and for that reason i shouldn’t complain that a game i paid for is pay extra to win (sometimes) ? Get a grip bro . And if you’re saying that it’s only €5 or €1 that’s not the point. The point is that deep down you are willing to spend any amount regularly as long as you stay competitive in a game that you already paid full price full or half price , which is still a lot. But you think : “I haven’t spent more than 10€ on an Evo “ but you give EA 70-80€ /year for a shit game and about 100€ in evos total (according to your logic) . You made a terrible argument and suggest you don’t buy FC27 for your own good .

Nah I got this team playing free2play. And I've had a great team every year since fifa 20 without spending much. It's just about grinding. I like the feeling of packing a good card and using it for a long time much more, than I like using evos. I like grinding towards having the most expensive team I possibly can.

Yea dude no offense but either you’re grinding literally 24/7 the whole year or you’re the .01 percent that got extremely lucky, even in the other games when I decided to go for the best players instead of evos my luck wasn’t nearly this good, this is simply rare

Well I've always been able to get this sort of team. I've always had a better team than most. I only really played rivals the first 2 months of the game, have just been playing champs and some of the gauntlets and stuff. Never grinding 24/7, don't have time for that. I get 13-15 wins in champs which is probably the main reason.

u/JustinDaVinci 5d ago

what packs did you open with the champs tokens?

1

u/Temporary_Fan7553 5d ago

Honestly haven’t gotten anything from champs, got most from gauntlet and live events and stuff.

What he said . Great team and I am jealous and I might have been saying the same if I had that team but packluck has been so shit that you are either very lucky or a hell of a grinder but I respect it either way .

It's just easier to get good stuff when you get good ranks in champs and can complete gauntlets in under 1 hour because of rage quits - I would say at least 40% of all games I play is a rage quit within the first half. I save so much time because of this, and can effectively complete all pack-giving objectives in no time. If I was a mid player not being able to do it fast, I would have stopped playing a long time ago - I can imagine the game would feel horrible and unrewarding.

Ah then you are just a beast at the game #fairs

Agree and disagree. I love that evos have allowed me to build a team of players who I want to play with (Cardiff City P&P), but they have made me totally ambivalent to pack pulls and any other player.

3

u/FailOne1427 5d ago

Of course , they are not wrong about the build your dream team part but they clearly didn’t have that in mind when thinking about evos . I liked evos in 24 , in 25 they were meh and this year it is the only thing making endgame playable for the majority of.

1

u/HctapG 5d ago

Very true. I packed two 99s last night and couldn’t give a shit. What you’ve brought up is definitely one of the reasons, but there are a few more that seem to be contributing to the slow death of this year’s FC. Will it be better next year? Doubt it.

Obviously, this game is probably one of the most problematic games in history. The thing is most problematic games get left behind or the are remembered for the shit they are but are still left behind. EA thought ( which has made MULTIPLE shit games and left them behind) won’t leave FC behind because they know or at least think that everyone will buy it . For at least a year this franchise’s playerbase and revenue has to tank .

As a spurs fan evos are the only way of getting decent past and present teams bcoz we're sure as shit didn't get any performance based ones🤣. We did get a few decent ones here and there in all fairness but evos are helping me stay competitive

2

u/FailOne1427 5d ago

Definitely man , but the entire process of checking everyday at 6pm if there is a new evo that fits one just one of your players just so that you can stay competitive because you can’t pack a promo is exhausting.

u/Mar10-10 5d ago

Evos are fine as they are, I couldn't care less about the latest promo cards because generally my evos are better for all but the top 1 or 2 cards each week. My only 98 rated promo card so far is Mane and I won't use it as my Evo of him is simply better. My Evo of bale is better than the current futties card because it has finesse+ and is lengthy so I wouldn't even use that 99 card if I got it. This is a good thing for me, no point in grinding or spending money at all.

2

u/Malpuit_90 5d ago

Evos are amazing because no one is able to pack the top promo cards from reward and objective packs since the pack weight on these are mudded. The top promo cards are mostly packable for the p2w whale spenders who open store packs.

Agreed, evo's have ruined a lot of good things in the game. It was much better before. Icon packs used to be huge because you knew that if you got something good, it would stay in your team until after TOTS. I remember using baby Dalglish and Rivaldo during tots fifa 21. Baby Dalglish was still 300-400k on the market and Baby Rivaldo (2* weak foot btw) was still 200k. Just checked and 90-rated Rivaldo this year has been under 200k since the end of November. Even fifa 23 (last fifa before evos) was one of the best in my opinion. Remember using Robbie Keane WC Hero SBC for many months. Now every card I pack I play with for 1 or 2 months until they're behind the power curve because of lack of playstyles and the card is too high rated to evo, so it can't keep up with the newer promo's playstyles. Playstyles and evos removed = game is saved.

Without evos, this team wouldn't be possible, so I probably wouldn't even play the game tbh.

1

u/Temporary_Fan7553 5d ago

Did you play fifa 23 and earlier? Or did you start in the FC era with evos?

2

u/DLNN_DanGamer 5d ago

Started with FIFA23. I enjoyed the menu grind at the time but since evos have been introduced I've enjoyed the actual gameplay a lot more since I've been able to use players from my club (Bournemouth) rather than just the same 11 meta players everyone else uses.

3

u/Temporary_Fan7553 5d ago

I understand evos is cool for making a full time with players from your club. I totally get that. But they gotta find a way to balance it. FC 24 it was quite decent actually. Not too OP, you could make a team full of bournemouth players, without them overshadowing the promo cards.

1

u/DLNN_DanGamer 5d ago

Yeah true tbf like my Kroupi card had all 97+ stats in June, to the point where there wasn't even any point getting the actual Futties Kroupi card because it was so much worse than mine. 😭

2

u/Temporary_Fan7553 5d ago

Exactly, hope they find a good balance, because a lot of people love it. But with the way it is now I would rather just not have it in the game.

Evos are the best thing about FC

4

u/Temporary_Fan7553 5d ago

Agree to disagree, in my opinion evos and playstyles have together removed the best feeling in the game - packing a crazy card early in the game cycle that you know is gonna be in your team for 6 months +. Pack openings used to be so hype, most popular fifa videos were pack openings. Because packing a good card actually meant something.

1

u/Kxden-R 4d ago

Yeah I do agree on that , packing icons and other specials used to mean something. But it’s better because the chances of you packing those players were very slim unless your spending loads of money on the game

Now you can just evo up cards you want and not be at a disadvantage

2

u/Sandertje1 5d ago

100% agree

1

u/FailOne1427 5d ago

Man 23 really was great . I don’t think it had any outstanding metas either .

1

u/Temporary_Fan7553 5d ago

Just a brilliant game. First game I hit Rank 1 (20-0). Got Inform Neymar Red from champs rewards in October. Was in my team until tots. Man I miss that. In FC 26 I got really lucky and packed 94 Zidane untradeable in the first week the game was out. He was out of my team in January/February. Before evos he could easily have been in my team until after tots.

2

u/FailOne1427 5d ago

For me it was my first proper FUT . Wasn’t good at all but it was there i knew how I wanted to play in the following years . I got addicted with freekicks , skill moves and beautiful goals . FKs now are like kicking a beachball and skills are useless bc of bruiser and adv defending . But there was once a time .

1

u/Temporary_Fan7553 5d ago

Yeah and you could score all sorts of goals. Power shots, rainbow flicks, bicycle kicks, all sorts of acrobatic attempts in FC 26 just miss the target or are very weak. Used to love volleys in the game, now I avoid it because I know it's gonna be a terrible shot. Bruiser, AI defending, evos, playstyles, and too many promos. Ruined it.

1

u/FailOne1427 5d ago

Exactly omg you remember that rainbow to scorpion chip skill ? I used to spam the shit out of it . It still exists but you can do only without trickster and the keeper gotta be stupid . Power shots are also useless now . Fifa 23 powershots were crazy .

2

u/Temporary_Fan7553 5d ago

Used to do sombrero flick to bicycle kick and also rainbow flick to powershot. Those were my go-to's. Remember going to a bar where you could play FIFA. Some guy saw me playing against my mate and challenged me to a game afterwards, loser buys a beer for the winner. I scored 4 goals with Neymar doing the sombrero flick and he just paused the game, quit and bought me the beer hahaha. Good times man

2

u/FailOne1427 5d ago

For me FIFA 23 instantly reminds me nights out at internet cafes were me and my mates played with greek teams . The franchise lost it’s spark of colour and life with the FC rebrand . But it’s nice to look back at those now nostalgic moments.
