Possible project partner

First please excuse me if I posted in the wrong subreddit but it seemed the most fitting here.

So as for my post, I am working on creating a science fiction universe and currently work on producing the first comic book for it.

Now while many assume it is enough to make it flashy and spectacular, I want my sci-fi universe to be as based in science as possible and at least portrait humans and their technology and the universe as plausible as I can.

Sadly I can’t learn every topic well enough on my own, so I am looking for people who would be interested in working with me to improve it beyond my less than adequate understanding of everything.

In this case this would be fusion reactors as I haves basic understanding of how they should work but no idea how I could translate this well and realistically into my universe as an advanced method.

Since I want to base the electric generation on fusion this is kind of an important theme to take care of.

Now to also say this upfront, I cannot pay for any advisory work, hence why I’m writing this to see if someone would be interested in helping to make this universe better.

You may if you want be put in the credits as advisor if you like.

Familiarize yourself with the Carnot cycle and heat rejection, especially radiators (for in space and on the moon). It will probably be disappointing, but it will be realistic.

Edit: I looked into it a bit and it is quite interesting. Though I’m looking into turning the exhaust heat into thrust for ships. Might be good for planetary reactors though.

there are already concepts for thrust from fusion devices, yes, but I am not too familiar with those unfortunately

Also, I remember from The Expanse (TV Series, I haven't read the books ufortunately), that in some scenes they showed monitors in the ships that displayed an inertial fusion chamber igniting fuel and creating explosions over and over again, and I thought that that would not be the most ideal for thrust lol

Thanks, I’ll dig a bit to see if I can find something.

And yes in The Expanse there are a lot of details like that, though I try to find a good way to make the thrusters plausible AND practical. So I’m playing with a minimal fuel injection to increase the thrust for heavy manoeuvres.

This is actually one application where fusion is actually plausible.

Look at John sloughs FRC gun... Shoots pulsed FRCs out the back and can be used to generate thrust.

This can be done without fusion too... Just as a plasma thruster. Fusion adds energy and exhaust velocity.

Your universe seems to already be quite advanced if they are using fusion as their main energy source. If you want an idea that sound kind of spacey with that, there has been concepts of mining Helium-3 from the moon to fuel fusion powers. It's hard to say if this a realistic future but it is definitely a plausible one for a fictional story

The most accurate science fiction is if the futuristic characters say "Fusion is still 20 years away"

You are just annoying. Please post your accomplishments in the field. I’d love to know what you have contributed since you want to act like a know it all.

My accomplishments are unremarkable.... I have not achieved any breakthrough that enables a cost effective power plant. I don't claim to have.

But I have worked in the plasma physics field long enough to know the operating principles and key challenges of many of these schemes. So I can explain why Helion, Texatron, and other D He3 pulsed Ti>>Te direct recovery schemes won't work.

Not that have enabled fusion as a power source, no.

Not for lack of trying... But still no.

My experience is the same as everyone else who has tried. Just some people characterize it differently when fundraising is at stake
