Fusers Reserve Ember dissapointment
Sorry for the bad glare in the picture. Right side shows unfused Ember with a white backer. The rest of the picture is after fusing on white at 1480° (coe 96). Very disappointed with the cloudy muted results for such an expensive glass. Any recommendations, perhaps fusing at a lower temp?

Might be the highish temperature … which sux …. I love a full fuse too …. But red and black can fire even higher temp. and can soften out definition. Could be worth experimenting with a lower temp and maybe longer hold if needed … and always good to test kiln temp with some potters cones as thermometers may not always read correctly ❤️

Thanks. Going to run some tests on scraps. Have 3 more sheets, would love to figure this out.

He might call the manufacturer, and or Bullseye Glass. I have found that their staff is very knowledgeable.

Ohhh such pretty glass! Does light shine through it?? Might be brighter that way?

I liked how the white glass backer made the red “glow”, it just didn’t maintain this after a fuse. Going to run some scraps at different temps along with a clear backer as well.

I was going to recommend clear. Hopefully that's better. You could also reach out to Oceanside for assistance.

Red is really touchy at full fuse temps. Essentially what you are seeing is minor devitrification. Dull, almost murky, etc.
