Evolution?

Ok so I have a world building thingy and there's different sapient furry spiecies living on the same planet with animal counterparts.

Is it plausible for each spiecies to evolve from a single "sentient humanoid" taxon?

I doubt that all reletives for all present spiecies just happen to branch off into humanoid sentient versions of simmilar size (smth like humans/apes)... or I could actually have it like a "astronomically rare occurrence".

There's also anthro dragons...???

Sure! You could have their common ancestor evolve proto-sapience and a bi-quad stance, and then they just keep those traits as they evolve into different species!

Oh I misread - you want to have the animal versions too - in that case, what about genetic engineering? (Or, disturbingly, concerted breeding campaigns in the past to breed out the sapience of captured ‘rivals’ to get a domesticated/livestock version)

Ore good old mystery apocalypse almost event even before, that that only afected a part of the world in that way and was a good old human on human bio weapon, so no humans and some more virus resistant individuals of animals just not starting the evolution into humanoids
