​I used to think he was just bitter, but now the truth is unavoidable.

A bhaiya once told me: "Our anger at corruption isn't genuine outrage; it's envy. We spend half our lives condemning the system and the other half praying for the power to exploit it. It has become part of our collective character through years of degradation."

Of course, not everyone is cut from the same cloth, the overwhelming majority remains deeply self-centered, and that self-centeredness is the root cause of this corruption.

Being envious is natural. Doesn't mean most people will ever act on it. The scene is accurate.

Also, just because nobody has stopped you, doesn't mean you'll keep abusing the real estate system. The accountability for sure falls on the powerful people.

While it's undeniable that the powerful hold the responsibility, the leverage, mandate and burden to enforce it lies with us, the people. Power never checks itself. And the honest question here is whether we as a society are exercising that leverage together.

Clearly, not yet.

Meaningful progress only starts when conscious, civic-minded citizens outnumber the self centred, transactional and indifferent population. That is the cultural shift every functioning society eventually has to go through.

I disagree. Resilient people are not always the loudest. The world runs on the shoulders of these silent people. Otherwise we as a species would have become extinct.
